If your mom/sister etc is paying for the shower

are their names on the invite as the host?

I was going to put MIL and my mom but i was just reading that it's bad etiquette because it's like soliciting gifts?

hellllp, i need to order these like yesterday!

Re: If your mom/sister etc is paying for the shower

my shower was a surprise, so i wasnt involved in making the invites, my bFF who is the godmother, and my mother, made the invites, and my mom paid for the shower...

my mom was mentioned on it only as the RSVP contact...i guess it is implied then that she is hosting, but it wasn't explicitly written on it...

I'm fortunate that my MIL and mom both want to pay but they were both not born in the country and kind of lost with the planning aspect which is why I have to get involved. My friend will also be listed as the rsvp contact...should I just leave the "hosted by" line out completely? Chat Icon

Re: If your mom/sister etc is paying for the shower

That is very nice! If they are both paying, I would consider they are both hosting...and I would add a line for it...

i think most people assume the girls mother hosts, so it might be nice to give credit to both of them...

now, you mentioned soliciting gifts...I don't understand, you think that writing that they hosted will make it look like you're soliciting gifts for who, them?? that part I don't follow...

oh, sorry! Yes, I was almost ready to order and then i was reading some baby shower throwing etiquette and it says traditionally, family did not throw the shower because it could be seen as soliciting gifts. I guess it's more of an old school way of thinking because more research online says thats outdated...

i just didn't want any older people to think it was tacky or something!

Re: If your mom/sister etc is paying for the shower

I've seen an invite once that said "Given with love by grandmas to-be".
I thought that was a cute way of mentioning the hosts. HTH

My mother and sister are hosting/paying for my shower, both of their names are on the invite.
