Is it possible not to hear a heartbeat?
During what should have been the 9 week ultrasound, the technician couldn't hear the heartbeat and said the baby is also measuring small at abit over 6 weeks.
A blood test was taken and now the doctor said the blood tests are normal and indicate a 7-8 week pregnancy.
I was resigned to the news that I've miscarried but the doctor can't confirm and ask that I come in for a 2nd ultrasound next Monday. I have yet to experience the symptoms of cramping and bleeding.
Is there any hope? I can't take nearly a week of waiting! :(

Re: Is it possible not to hear a heartbeat?
I truly hope all turns out well for you...But i went through the same thing...was told i had an empty sac...After the doctors took my bloodwork, they called me back with the news that my numbers were exactly where they should be which made me hopeful..even the doctors voice sounded a little optimistic...so they made me wait a week and come back for another sono. Again, there was an empty sac :( - I too held on to hope and prayed and prayed...Check out the website Missed Miscarriages..it will help you hold onto hope.
Just sharing my story..not trying to make you lose hope.
Sorry you are going through this...i know it's hard.

I'd still try and stay positive. Sometimes they have trouble finding the heart beat. My cycle as always been off too. I went for an early us due to spotting. According to my dates I would've been 8 weeks but the us said 6 weeks I now have a peanut measuring 2 wks ahead in my third tri and they insist the us is the correct date. Gl!!

Yes, they see it, but they said it's measuring too small for 9 weeks (only 6 weeks) so either my ovulation day is off and I'm still preggo, or I will be undergoing an mc. I can't imagine how I can be 3 weeks off...
Will only know if they do another ultrasound to measuring if the baby grows at all... :(

I have a realllllly dumb question - if there is still a heartbeat, how could it be a miscarriage? Baby is still alive.
Do they mean that baby is potentially not growing at the correct rate and therefore you may go on to have a miscarriage?
I've known a number of people that miscarried, but they all didn't have a heartbeat any longer and baby stopped growing. So in your case for example, you would be 9 weeks and baby would be measuring at 6 weeks with no heartbeat. But your baby still has a heartbeat, yes?
If that's the case I would hold on to every last bit of hope in my body. And pray. Pray as hard as I could.
I will pray for you and your baby. I really hope you get wonderful news.

Unfortunately, there's no heartbeat and the baby is measuring small, that's why there's the concern. If there's no heartbeat and the baby is measuring according to age, it would not be so alarming. :(

I'm sorry, I thought above where you said "yes, they saw it" you meant the heartbeat.
I will still pray for good news!!!
