nursery or your room

If all goes smoothly and you have the choice, are you planning on keeping the baby with you in your room or letting them take your LO to the nursery?


Aside from any complications, we do have a choice, right?

Nursery....enjoy the help for those two nights and rest up! That's what i did with DS and I plan on doing it that way again.

I loved my hospital visit....i swear i didn't want to leave!!!

I delivered at Good Sam and they encourage you to keep the baby with you. That being said I did send him to the nursery but they brought him back for feedings and if he was fussy so I ended up having him most of the time

nursery- you will have that little one every night with no help once you leave. Take the help while you can.

I asked them to keep DD in the nursery overnight and I will again this time. The nurses may try to play a guilt trip on you if you are BFing, but I gurantee I have NEVER heard of a day old baby getting nipple confusion from (maybe) drinking a few ounces of formula in the nursery overnight. I had no guilt. I wanted to be with her, but I was so tired and sore from labor I just needed a few hours to rest each night. I kept her until about 10pm and got her back at about 6am.

She's forgiven me.

ideally, i would like the baby with me all day but nursery at night. hoping to savor the last night or 2 to recover myself before having to be up all night for the next... 18 years..

I'm undecided. I would like to keep her with me all night but, I know I'm going to need the rest. I'm leaning towards saying with me but I guess I will see how I feel.

I delivered at both South Nassau and Stonybrook and I just want to say that even though I was EBF, the nurses had absolutely no problem keeping the babies in the nursery and bringing them back for feedings.

In fact, when I had my first child, he had such difficulty latching that one of the nurses encouraged me to keep him there through a couple of feedings. She gave him formula, but in a medicine cup, so the act of eating was more like BFing than drinking from a bottle (it looked like a kitten lapping milk). I got a few solid hours of sleep, woke up feeling like a new woman, and DS latched with no problem at his next feeding! Best thing I could have done. Don't ever be afraid to ask for help

i delivered at north shore manhasset, and while they gave us no trouble about keeping him in the nursery (we did so for the first night b/c we were so exhausted), the nurse made it seem like bringing him in for feedings throughout the night was not an option. maybe she just thought that's what i wanted...i was kind of delirious at the time and maybe didn't understand or express what i wanted correctly. we had him w us the rest of the time, but they seemed willing to do whatever we wanted.

keep the baby in the room during the day and in the nursery at night. want to get some sleep while you can.

I want to keep the baby with me, I'm hoping to breastfeed and I don't want the baby getting any formula at all.

I'm hoping to keep the baby with me at night, I want to breastfeed her. I know myself I will be worried sick if she's not next to me!
