Co-Sleeper v. Bassinet
I'm so undecided!!! At first, I was set on the co-sleeper, but 1 of my friends mentioned that she thinks I would have a hard time getting the baby to sleep alone if I start with the co-sleeper.
What do you ladies think??

I'll be a first time mom, so I really can't say for sure. I just know that talking to my friends that BF, several have ended up co-sleeping with the baby in bed with them. I figure that having the bassinet attached to the bed will be the most convenient and will hopefully prevent me falling asleep with the baby in bed with me.

I plan on placing the baby in the bassinet and having the bassinet next to the bed, so all I have to do is reach over. I don't want to have the baby in the actual bed with me if I can help it.

I plan to do a bassinet... I have heard a lot of negative things and many Dr's recommend you do NOT sleep with the baby in the bed due to the number of infant deaths due to suffocation. You dont realize it but you toss and turn alot and there have been parents who have rolled onto the baby... As well as if you ever twitch in your sleep or have a bad dream... Once I hit my husband right in the face cause I was having a bad dream and my arms were all over the place... God forbid that was the baby! I would die...

We used a bassinet w/ the boys. It was great. We wheeled them right next to our bed. They'd cry and we could easily look in and check them.

I have the mini co-sleeper. With DS, I tried to attach it to our bed, but are mattress is too high. I even got the extenders for the bottom of the Co-sleeper to lift it up, and it wasn't enough. I don't have a super high mattress, but I guess it is high enough. You don't have to attach it to your bed. The sides go up and it is pretty much the same as a bassinet. I liked it also because the sides where a breathable mesh. It also has wheels, it you want to move it around.

I EBF and DS slept in his crib from 5 days old. None of us slept well in the same room. He is a phenomenal sleeper and I think it's because he was in his crib so early.
Just another thought.

A co-sleeper is basically a bassinet where one side can fold down and attach to your bed. They are in their own bed, just close to you. They're not sleeping in the bed with you.

Co-sleeper. I know several family members and friends who swear by it. They say the closer presence and contact promotes good sleeping habits for the baby so that you can tend to the baby before she/he works up to a full blown cry in the middle of the night. All three of the moms credit the co-sleeper to their children's excellent sleeping habits as they got older as well. Who knows if thats the case, but it's worth a shot!

I had the mini-co-sleeper with my first and I wish I had kept it. It was awesome. It was leveled with my bed so it felt like he was in my bed but he was actually in his own little space. With my second we're getting a bassinet, which is still great since the baby will be next to me, but I won't have the comfort of seeing him/her as soon as I crack my eyes open. Also since this is my second child, I'm sure I'll be a little less paranoid than I was with my first.

I love co-sleepers ! I loved watching my baby sleep next to me and just being close to them. It made it easy to bf my babies too in the night. Both my babies did fine sleeping on their own after co-sleeping for about 6 months. For a few days, I would wait till LO fell asleep in his crib but he learnt to adapt fairly quickly. DS2 had no problems.

I plan to use the bassinet from the PnP and keep it right next to the bed. That way he's used to sleeping alone, but will still be in the same room as me.

Cosleeper if you're BFing. When the baby wakes up, just roll over and feed him/her. It's a lifesaver for me. I credit never having to wake up in the middle of the night to it.

This! It's so convenient. We use the arms reach mini cosleeper.
