This used to drive me crazy all the time with my dd... Your life changes as much as you want it to...I still went back to work as an Opera singer 4 months after having her, DH and I still had date nights... Yes not as much as we used to but you can still have the life you want.

Agreed... I get that... Its why we decided to have a child... Because we felt we plateaued as a couple and wanted something more in our lives...
I hate when people say this, especially single people... Not only are you stating the obvious, what the hell do you know about the topic

ITA, I was the same way (well except fot the opera singer part  )
Our life changed because we had a baby but we still did the same things and had a blast! I think having friends with kids makes a world of difference because everyone gets together with the kids in tow and mom and dad can have some fun while still being with their kids. I've had a great social and career life after DS was born- actually its been better!

Having a baby changes your life??? WHAT? 
People are so dumb. Yeah life changes, but for the better! Like pp said, DH and I still traveled, we just brought DD; we still went on date night, we just got a sitter!
Now that we're expecting number 2 we're getting..."Oh you're going to have you're hands full NOW!" and "It's going to be so hectic with another one!" Like we're having another child to make life easier??

I HATE the your life is going to change speech...
I HATE even more the ooo get your sleep now you wont be able to 'relax' when the baby comes...
I also HATE the 'oo you wait and see these kids drive me crazy, wait youll see what I mean. You NEVER get a moment of peace when their around.."

Of course your life is going to change! You are going to be a mommy and have a beautiful little baby to love!
I still sleep, I still go out with my husband, I still (gasp) get to go to the bathroom alone! Having a baby (a healthy baby with no issues of course) is what you make of it. Start as you intend to go on, enjoy every second and enjoy the CHANGE!

Having had 2 kids....I can honestly say that people would say this to me, and I didn't really understand until after DD was born.
Of course we all know our lives will change. That's given. I just didn't know how much until it happened. It's not a negative thing. Your life is just different. And quite frankly, I wasn't prepared for how much I would LOVE my kids. Like, take a bullet for them LOVE.
As far as the sleep thing. I took time before I had DD to relax and pamper myself because people told me this, and because I knew it would be a while before I truly had a night to myself. So I am grateful for that.
Obviously sleeping more now isn't going to help 2 weeks into having a newborn.  But just take the time now to treat yourself to that late Saturday morning. Because your life is gonna end soon.

It can be annoying when people say things like that but in a way, I get it.
The 'ooo you're life is going to change' bit is true....but it's not in a negative way. My friends and I talk about it this way - you love your DH, your family, etc. But you don't know what heart exploding, undying LOVE feels like till you have a child. There is nothing in this world that will ever compare to it.
