how do you know...
what is appropriate to register for? meaning... i dont want to register for something too expensive and have it be tacky to do so....or register for too much and seem like a piggy. i want to register for EVERYTHING so i can get the completion discount but dont want people to look at registery and mock me endlessly thoughts? sample registeries? ty v much

To me the registry is a wish list. No one is required to buy you everything so I wouldn't worry if you add a lot or extra expensive items. As long as you have a good variety of products/prices I think you are fine!

What she said! It's not like u r demanding people buy the stuff or expecting everything will get bought. It's a list of stuff u want.. People can buy or not buy. A big part of my decisions when registering was thinking about the completion discount. & remember, with expensive stuff several people might chip in together to buy the bigger items. U never know. I don't think putting expensive stuff is bad as long as there r reasonably priced items on there as well. So go get that scanner & go crazyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

I agree. You're not forcing anyone to buy too many things or too expensive of things. Just make sure to have a variety of expensive and inexpensive things. People will buy what they want.

I agree wwith all of the above. My reg has about 150 items on it and originally I thought it was too much, but then realized its a greater variety of coices for people. I don't expect anyone to buy the big ticket items like pump and mamaroo, but I didn't want to miss out on the discount. And who knows, 10ppl might chip in. Either way, its your reg, you can't go wrong!

I registered for all the stuff I wanted both this time and when I was getting married. My DH cousin was getting married after me and barely had anything on her registry. At her shower all of her aunts were saying we loved your registery because you had so many options for us to choose from. So I say register for anything you want and the worst that can happen is people don't buy it for you.

I agree with the PP's. Its a wish list! I don't think it would matter if I saw a ton of things on someone's list, more for me to choose from!

Put everything you want on there. Don't worry about the price. If it's too much, people won't buy it. Plus, sometimes people chip in to get a big ticket item.
Put EVERYTHING!!!! For me, it was a good way to organize what I wanted, and then if you don't get it, you know what you need and want.
Don't worry! Make sure there are a range of prices there and you're all good. :)

I put everything on there. Whatever I didn't get but still wanted I used the completion coupon to get a discount before DD arrived.
This time around I started a registry again even though I am not having a second shower. I only did it for the completion coupon for my double stroller!

Just like my wedding registry, I tried to get a variety of things in different price ranges. $30, $50, $75, $100, $100+. Other than that I put what I wanted on there.

ITA! Get what you want. After the shower I used my registry to buy the things i still needed. My coworkers chipped in and got me my baby monitor which was the most expensive thing on the list.
I didnt register for furniture bc i found its cheaper elsewhere.
Its your first child, do it up!
