24 hour urine...?
checks for protien in urine right? and what does this indicate? anything else this looks for? ty!

It definitely checks for protein, which can be there if you have high blood pressure or pre-e. I just had to do this last week at 14 weeks as I am a pre-existing diabetic and it also checks for other things relating to kidney function. I also had pre-e with my first pregnancy so they wanted a baseline early on.
Such fun doing the collection!

Ugh - I have to do this too, at the end of the month. I think they are checking for proteins in the urine, will determine if you have high blood pressure, I think. My doctor is doing it early for me so that she has a benchmark to use for later to determine if I am at risk for pre-eclampsia...apparently I have high BP every single time I am in the office. When I take my BP at home it is low!!!

It's to check for protein. It doesn't determine if you have high bp but if you have high bp and protein in the urine it could be indicative of pre-e.
