Need some work advice
Ok so I am 1/2 way through and work as a preschool teacher with 2/3 yr olds. My boss knows already I cant lift them. Ive already had my doctor write me a note saying I need to sit in a regular chair, yes I have to sit in a little teeny, tiny kiddie chair. Also a note for me to have a bottle of water with me at all times. So far so good but......
I have been having back pain big time, going to the doc on wednesday and telling him about it cause me and a few others think it is Sciatica, never mind the fact I have arthritis in my spine. Plus carpal tunnel in my right hand and its getting worse. Im not looking to stop working but, my whole thing is I have a small class and if there are 4 kids or less she wants me to be alone to save money and not pay my asst. to stay with me and I feel like I should have her all the time, considering the things that are hard for me to do, plus she has NEVER let anyone else that has been pregnant alone, EVER in the 14 yrs I have been there. Im able to do everything but the picking them up, bending all the way down into the tiny closet to get out all the kids things, one day my knee locked that my asst had to help me get up. Also in order to change them I have to sit on a kid size step stool to change their diapers and its getting harder for me to sit in the little area and keep getting up. UGG Im sorry I realized Im rambling but, what would you do? Im just afraid she my turn around and say if you cant do your job then leave, especially since she is mad at me for cutting my hrs. Im her dependable teacher, always there, always on time and always did afterschool and now I cant do certain things for her and she isnt happy about it, she is selfish. HELP!!!! Im so upset I have to go back tomorrow

Re: Need some work advice
First off she by law cannot tell you that you cant come back to work because your pregnancy is causing a problem. Look up the laws. Do not be afraid to speak up for yourself.
Quantify your work. And by this I mean state your case. Go to your boss and tell her, you know I am a hard worker, a loyal and caring teacher, I have always given you 110% and go above and beyond what is asked of me (if you even have examples of this to prove it pull them out. Whether its working late, doing extra projects, spending extra time with a particular child that sorta thing) bring it up to support what your saying. Then state unfortunately I am running into some complications and I need assistance. My health and the health of my baby is the most important thing and I cannot put either one at risk and I know you wouldnt want me to either. Can we create a work around certain things that I am finding hard to do? I can do my job and I do my job very well, I know you see this, but there are certain things that I am having a hard time with. Its a temporary fix and we know that things will shortly go back to the way they were. But I really could use a temporary work around for certain things.
See if this works. If she cares at all they will work around it.
Good luck! I hope it works out.
