gender neutral nursery.... I am having a hard time

For #1 we found out we were having a girl. I went crazy with the pink, sweet baby girl nursery. For #2, we are not finding out the gender. The room was painted not long ago with greyish-blue walls. We are not really looking to paint the room again. I am trying to decorate the room gender neutral, but it all seems so boy to me. I've seen gender neutral lamps and curtains that I like, but I feel like once I picture it with the blue walls it turns masculine. I think the fact that DD's room was so girly is throwing me off as to what a baby nursery looks like. Maybe I should just find out the gender and go crazy decorating

i would just repaint the room to be honest. We did a sage green and had no problems decorating the nursery.

I agree with the PP. Not that the greyish-blue wouldn't work in a gender neutral room, but if you feel like everything you're thinking of is making it masculine, then go with a more neutral color so you can start fresh. Just pull the pregnancy card with your hubby to change the color - works for me every time!

No! Don't find out just to decorate the nursery. Not worth ruining the best surprise of your life over.

We are team green and my nursery is grayish-blue. It's gorgeous! The color is called Ozone, I believe from Behrs. The crib dust ruffle is white with a brown stripe. White wood blinds. Cream shag rug. Brown tree decal with mint birds. Then after baby is born I may add other little things, including hanging letters to spell out baby's name.

We didn't find out with dd but we painted a gender neutral color and then waited until after she was born to find bedding. It was just less stressful. I couldn't find anything I liked that was neutral so that worked out best for us.

Ive seen a lot of people doing that light blue and even going more towards teal and then adding a lot of other colors in decor for gender neutral rooms. Have you tried just typing in gender neutral nursery in google images? Lots of inspiration there.

I'm a big fan of STARK white walls... but I'm imagining you will get the same effect with a gray color.

We had a gender neutral nursery for DS (we thought it would be a baby nursery for whatever comes after DS as well) with greens & baby animals. Lots of tree/jungle decals.

Now we are having a girl & are just adding an extra crib (more feminine) & some pink lamb bedding.

We did gender neutral with my first and added 'boy' accents after (bedding and walls were all cream & vanilla shades).

With my 2nd, I actually picked out (and bought 2 weeks before he was born) both a boy bedding set and a girl bedding set. When he was born, we returned the girl bedding set.

I'm thinking I'll do the same this time.

If you think of it that way, are you able to find girl bedding you'd like in that color room? If so, I wouldn't paint again.

Our nursery had tan walls, cream curtains, black furniture and sock monkey bedding. I bought the rug after DS was born. Got a cute colorful boyish town rug (and he loves playing on it still). Had we had a girl, I would have gone with something floral or damask.

I think your walls will be fine. Keep the decor very minimal until after baby is born and the room will quickly fill up with gender specific things and gifts after the baby is born. Save things like the rug and window treatments until after to make a big boy or girl statement. Choose bedding with lots of colors and animals so that if you have a boy, you can add more blues and highlight the boyish animals like tigers and monkeys and if you have a girl, go crazy with pinks and add birdies or cute owls. A large wall decal can swing the room one way or another and you'll have time to do all of those last touches after baby is born.
