I knew it!!!

I had my baby girl on Saturday Dec 17th at 4:30am.. Victoria weighed in at 6 lbs 15.6 ounces and 19.5 inches.

My last post was a vent about how I was scheduled for an induction for this coming friday and my husband decided to take off the week before the induction rather than aftewards to be home with the baby...

After that I was super emotional fri night, went to sleep around midnight and could not stop crying-- I felt sad about the end of my pregnancy approaching, and also about having to get ain induction and possible c-section, and for having to be in the hospital on christmas day...

I guess Victoria decided to make mommy happy and get daddy out of the dog house, my water broke at 2:30am! I got up to go to the bathroom and saw I was a bit wet down there, I was shocked and in denial but my husband convicned me it was my water breaking and we went to the hospital ...

My contractions started when I got to the hospital. They checked and confirmed that my water broke and when they checked me I was still only 1 cm dilate and 50 % effaced.. They put me on pitocin after a couple of hours (evil evil drug), and the nurse wouldnt give me an epidural even though I asked for it-- she said that they wouldnt give me one if i was less than 3 cent dilated.. although no one had checked me for hours she assured me i wasnt dilated to 3 cm.. The pitocin reallly amplified my contractions big time-- So, when another nurse took over her shift a couple of hours later, she saw I was "uncomfortable" and called my doctor to see if I could get an epidural-- He said of course.. I could have gotten it as soon as I asked for it-- he assumes if you are in pain you are dilated enough-- the nurse I guess had not gotten that memo.. Anyway that was the worst of it.. I got the epi around 6am and the epi was amazing!!! I Felt great after.
I was 10 cent dilated and fully effaced by about 2pm, I tried ppushing through a few contractions but couldnt feel anything so it was ineffective-- they took me off the epi, which took a couple of hours to wear off-- so I started feeling the contractions more (and got feeling back in my legs, and lower body) which made pushing so much easier. I pushed my baby girl out in less than 4 pushes at that point. She was born at 4:03 pm.

Labor was so much better than I thought it would be-- I know I was lucky and for that I am thankful!! I did have to get a episiotomy but I was up and walking later that same night.
