Having to Wait...

I hate having to wait until the first trimester is over to tell our family and friends. It is SO hard for me to NOT call my parents right now and tell them.

Also, I hate knowing I am pregnant and not being able to see the doctor until NEXT YEAR!! (Jan 10th). That was when they could schedule me in, closest to the "8th week"...

How did you deal with this period of waiting?

DH and I didn't wait to tell our immediate family - our parents, BIL SIL and my brother. I think I was literally 4 1/2 weeks!

too bad my parents started telling their friends and then I was so anxious waiting for the first doc appt (7 1/2 weeks).

Thank goodness everything is perfect up until now (i'm 24 weeks) but it is a personal decision. I told quite a few of my close friends before the first trimester was over but I waited to tell work and come out to everyone else until my ultrascreen test came back great. I was 13 weeks.

uhhh waiting for my appts are the worst. I will constantly look online at babycenter.com (great site) and see what is going on with my baby at the time. I am constantly on that site.

We told our parents almost right away. Had to tell someone! We waited until 8 weeks to tell our siblings. We waited to tell the rest of the world until after the 12 week mark - actually closer to 14. Its entirely up to you!

you do not have to wait to tell your parents but the rest of the world does not need to know until your in your 2nd tri it is safer to tell people at that time

No one says you have to wait. Its a personal decision.

my co workers new the day I found out but then again they knew about the treatments I was going through.

I texted my sister right after I told DH and my parents were told when I got to work that day.

We told DH's parents the next day.

We told different friends at different times.

we waited awhile because of pervious MC. Didnt want to get anyones hopes up. Told our parents around 10 weeks and the rest of the family found out at 13 weeks when we got out CVS results in.

Waiting for appointments, I have masted the art of twiddling my thumbs and eating lots of junk food

We told parents and brothers... as soon as I was confirmed with blood work (at 5wks). But my husband spilled the beans when he saw the sacks and couldn't contain himself.

It's all a personal preference. IMO if people know and something happens, you have a support system there for you. Nothing worse that having to go through a M/C alone (meaning without another woman to understand).

Waiting can really drive you crazy! With my first pregnancy I ended up telling my family by the 7th week. I actually had told my sister before that, when I was aruond 5 weeks. I was just too impatient.

2nd time around I was a bit more logical. I waited until we had seen the baby's heartbeat on my first ultrasound at 8 weeks. Then I told my parents together (they were seperated) by showing them the sono picture.

We told more friends and family at 12 weeks, but there were plenty of people who knew at 8.

Waiting is the worst. But for me I felt better waiting until at least the first sono.

You don't have to wait!

We told our parents and siblings the same day I got two positive tests.

I told close friends after my first sono around 10 weeks.

I told work after my first trimester.

I chose to wait with my first pregnancy until close to 12 weeks to tell everyone.

I found it harder with my second pregnancy because our parents were around a lot more (to see DS) so I told them earlier (which was nice because I got some needed help when I felt like crap). I also told my boss earlier since we were travelling.

It's all personal preference - there's no rule as to what you should/shouldn't do.

it's annoying waiting for that first appointment.. hang in there & congrats to you!

as others have mentioned its personal preference. My sister and my mom knew right away, as soon as I had POAS! Well they also knew I was going through IF treatments so they asked me after each doc appt how everything was. As of now, everyone else (DH's family, the rest of my family) we will wait to tell until we hit 12 weeks.... Although my BIL thought I was pregnant even before I conceived, he found my pre-natal vitamins in our bathroom that I left out by accident!
