Today is HUGE! Update!
I go in for bloodwork for the spina bifida screening and they are doing an ultrasound. I am 17 weeks today. The purpose of the ultrascreen is to hopefully get the first decent look at the heart. My firstborn died of a very serious heart defect so I am a nervous wreck. I have been on edge for weeks now. I am actually more nervous than I was with my daughter. I just want them to tell me the heart is looking good so I can have a good cry and enjoy our Christmas. We also may find out the gender if the baby is cooperating but that is secondary at this point. I just want this baby to be ok! Can you send us some good vibes, they are much appreciated! Thanks.
Update:
Well, just as I feared the sono tech said she couldn't get a good enough look, that it was "too early." I was fearing this a bit because my OB brought me in for "light bleeding", which was a white lie. I begged and begged to have her look at both the right and left sides but she said it was hard to tell at this point. What I really needed was a skilled doc to look, and give me better answers. The good news is that she saw nothing particularly wrong at this point, that things looked the way they should at this point. I may call my doc tomorrow and see if there is anything he could look at. The good news is we got a gender! And the tech says it is 100% positive. I may have to wait awhile to share here as we still need to come out to some family members, but we are thrilled. And my mommy intuition was right!

Thanks all so much! I have been so on edge and irritable these past few weeks and this is all I have been thinking about. My daughter has been a little difficult too and I am wondering if my mood has effected her in any way. So I am feeling guilty too!
