Residents
It is starting to bother me when they come in the room and I'm not asked before hand, but my last appt with a sono tech, they let the resident do some of the measurements. I was never asked and it ****** me off. She seemed really green and she was taking some important measurements.
Does anyone manage their dr's to let them know I'm not a fan? I don't like to be rude, and I know they have to learn, but its not for me.
I had one resident in a non teaching hospital come in to "observe" during a very sensitive point in my pregnancy and it also ****** me off. I was a basket case and didn't say no.
These are private times, and I'm not signing off that I'm someone who is OK with being "observed" and a "guinea pig."
Do the residents bother anyone else.

Maybe you signed something with out realizing it? I was asked if I mind, what they can and can not do and had to sign a paper. I would ask one of the nurses.

I delivered at a teaching hospital. A resident did my c-section with my OB assisting. All doctors have to learn somewhere. As long as another doctor is overseeing everything, it doesn't bother me. If it does bother you, I'd speak up. I'm sure your practice would comply with your wishes.

Holy cow... did they ask you first? I was considering delivering at a teaching hospital, but I don't want residents working on me. I was unconfortable with them in the room

When I was in labor with DS in August 2010 at Good Sam a resident came in to check me and do an internal the first time and she had NO bedside manner whatsoever. I know that normal internals aren't fun but I have a tilted uterus and they are down right painful for me, where I am crying so much after. Instead of talking to me to give me tips to make it better she kept yelling at me making me not want to listen to her suggestions at all, I just wanted that over with.
What are the teaching hospitals around here?

It kind of bothered me when like 3 residents came in the room when I was getting an internal exam. I wasn't asked and kind of felt uncomfortable.

To be honest, after a 22 hour induction, I don't remember whether or not they asked. My OB was right there and I had a really positive experience. I do remember the resident asking permission to do an internal and she was more gentle than one of the OBs.
