Update- Wish me luck
I posted a few days ago about it, but I had concerning AFP results come in this week. Well, I just found out they are bumping up my Level II to this afternoon to check for markers of neural tube defects. I am so nervous. 
Update - Overall, it was a very positive sonogram. As far as they can tell, the spine and brain were normal. So no signs of a major neural tube defect like anencephaly or open spina bifida. The doctor even had a possible explanation for the high AFP- a blood clot/bleed could have somehow caused it. They did also find the kidneys were somewhat enlarged, which could be associated with Downs, but they said it's most likely nothing as it's the only marker found. We are so relieved. We go back in two weeks for another soon.
