Fresh Mozzarella?
So, my doctor said, "no fresh mozzerella." Everything I read online is iffy about that one. Some things say that it's fine, others say it's fine if heated, etc.
Anyhow, I'm going to lunch with a friend today and the restaurant we're going to has this wonderful veggie panini with fresh mozzarella that I am totally craving, so I'm considering eating it, since the cheese will be warmed up.
What did your doctors say about fresh mozzarella?
ETA: I ended up foregoing the panini because it said that the mozzarella was homemade. I didn't want to take a risk. I had delicious eggplant parm with buffalo mozzarella instead!

my doctor never mentioned fresh mozzarella to me. I ate it a lot with my last pregnancy and I didn't even warm it up.

Everything I read online said as long as the cheese is pasteurized, you're good... And I believe most cheese is in the US... Im pretty sure you'll be ok today... I personally had a ton of fresh mozz (not heated) during thanksgiving and then again just the other day when I made english muffin pizzas

From everything I've heard, it's fine as long as it is pasteurized. It's really really rare to have unpasteurized cheese in the U.S. nowadays, so you're probably safe. I would just ask the restaurant if it is before you eat it.

You will find conflicting opinions on any type of food so just go with your comfort level.
THe cheese issue is about it being unpasturized. packeage cheese is pasturized but if its home made it might not be.

My dr never mentioned it. He's more of an "everything in moderation" type of guy. And believe me, I indugled in fresh mozzarella whenever the mood struck me

As long as it's pasteurized, it's totally fine to eat. You can ask the restaurant to make sure but it's actually harder to find unpasteurized cheese than it is pasteurized nowadays!

i've eaten it, i do check the label that says "made from pasteurized milk" if you're out, ask the restaurant

I'd say your fine.. nowadays even if its homemade its made with milk and I don't know how anyone would have unpasturized milk unless its a restaurant on a farm and they milk there own cows and make there own cheese right there on the spot.
mmmm now I want a caprese salad...

oh man are you kidding me?
I have to check if the fresh mozz I've been eating is pasturized. I've been staying away from gorgoanzola and blue cheese, and the super soft ones like brie, but I didn't realize it included fresh mozz.

If it's in a panini....it's heated so that should be fine (similar issue to colcuts my dr said).
Fresh mozz (unheted) is my favorite and I won't touch it until after the baby is born.

I ate everything any anything with all 3 pregnancies except sushi but that is because I don't eat it. But I think if I did, I would have also just not often.
