Having the DR. break your water question
I was reading some older posts and saw two people say that having your water broken by the doctor was the most painful thing. Just wondering if anyone knows how often does the Dr. usually have to do this compared to it breaking on its own. Also, BTDT moms- was it really that painful? Just wondering!

I was induced and Dr. broke my water. I didn't even feel it.

That's good to know! I am getting nervous. The whole pregnancy I have not thought about the labor and delivery part- I like to think I have a high tolerance for pain. But as the days approach- I am getting really scared.

yep same here..totally normal. I am getting nervous as well and it's my second. You will be fine!!

The doctor broke my water with both of my deliveries. Like the PPs said- you don't feel a thing. You just suddenly feel like you are peeing yourself

My Dr broke my water and I don't recall it hurting - it did feel weird though afterwards since I felt I couldn't control my bladder.

With DS, I was having contractions, so they broke my water... With DD, I was induced and they broke it. I had an epi before they did it, so I didn't feel anything!

with my twins, baby A's water broke on its own and after I delivered baby A they broke Baby B's water. I remember seeing the hook like tool, but I dont even remember it happening

havent had it done but at Lamaze this weekend, they said you dont even feel it and neither does the baby.

My dr broke my water. Before he started I asked him if it will hurt. He said no and explained to me how it works. He basically uses a hook (kinda like a crochet needle) and punctures the sac. I didnt' feel a thing. I can't see how it can hurt unless if the dr wasn't careful and hooked the mother instead.

Doctor broke mine and I remember feeling pressure and a little uncomfortable. Not really pain though. It's over so quick. Don't worry about it.

I didn't have any pain meds w/my first and still didn't feel a thing accept the gush of water.
Granted I was also 9 1/2 centimeters and pretty much would have consented to anything at that point that would get that last 1/2 cm. And it did.

Mine was posterior (whatever that means) so he had to go in from behind it. It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life. I was literally screaming. Don't want to scare you, but I want to be honest. This is probably not the norm though

ditto...it was like he was doing an internal...that was it. I didn't even know he did it...he "came out" and told me he just broke my water...I had no idea.
He had a little thimble looking thing on his finger that poked it I guess. I've heard of long scary looking things that look like knitting needles...my dr did not use that.

Same here. No pain at all. Honestly I just felt a gush of water and that was kind of gross but that's it!

my doctor had to break my water at 8cm's. I didn't feel a thing.

Yes, it was painful! I didn't have an epi at the time. It seemed like the doc went up pretty far to hook it, so yeah, painful is the word!
