Nope, just me and DH. My mom isn't around, and the LAST person I would want seeing me in that state would be my MIL. Love the lady, but I can just picture her nitpicking mine, the nurses, and the doc's every move. Plus I don't need her seeing my hoo-ha

I think i'll have my mom in the room up until I have to start pushing. At that point, I want to share the experience with just DH.

I'll probably allow my mom, sister and best friend in during the early stages of labor but by the time I'm ready to push it will only be DH and I.

Its just me and DH. I have already had that discussion long ago with everyone. My parents didn't want to be in the room and I would rather poke my eyes out than allow DHs mom in there.....she is nuts.

That's interesting - they must have changed it. I delivered ds in Sept. 2009 & they wouldn't let anyone in to see me even early on & had us send everyone home!

if i have a vaginal delivery, i can have up to 2 ppl in the room...
during labor, i will be fine w/my mom and even MIL if she wants to be in there at all...id rather that then be by myself if i have a LONG labor and DH needs a potty break or wants a cup of coffee...
and while I'd LOVE for my mom to be in there when I deliver, (DH is totally against it) I don't mind it being just he and I when I deliver, and that is what we're going to do...
once I know I'm gonna start pushing soon, that's when it will just be DH and I in the room...
we are also team  so DH and I are really looking forward to finding out the sex together, just he and I, and then he gets to tell everyone else!! :)

If our parents want to visit while I am laboring I am OK with that but when it comes time to push I only want my DH there. He is already really nervous and freaked out about it so my mom told me shed be a stand by if he passes out or something.

Is this rule new? Bc my friend delivered two of her kids there and I was in the room with her for both of them, along with her dh...

So weird because I was induced on a Monday night, started having contractions a half hour after starting the cervidil every 2 minutes, it was so painful. DH works 4am-2pm so around 11pm he was tired so I told him that if he wanted his mother to come so he could sleep for a few hours before the crazy labor part came that I would ok with it so he asked and they said sure. She showed up around midnight. Then after I got the epidural at 11am. At around 3:30pm my sister, SIL and Dh's cousin came up to see me, we asked first too and was told that we could have visitors. They threw them out though because DS' heart rate started to drop.

No WAY.
My mom freaks out & MIL is too weird.
It'll just be my DH and me.
Mom will be taking care of DC#1.
I've seen hospitals that allow more than 1 person in the delivery room & it gets to be a circus.

My mom was going to be in delivery room but I ended up needing an emergency c-sec so just dh was with me. But my mom stayed with me the 22 hours I labored.

It seems everyone is pretty split. I really think this is something I would like to share with just DH, but I guess I wont know until it comes time. Maybe I will have my mom there for the labor and then just DH and I when it comes time to push.

With DS, I was in a L&D room for 24 hours and I had quite a few people there with me at various points (my mom, MIL, friends, etc.) in addition to DH. But I wasn't actually in labor. In the end I needed an emergency c/s and my mom and DH were in the room with me when they called for the emergency c/s. Only 1 person is allowed with you in the operating room, so DH came in with me.
This time, I wouldn't mind if my mom or even MIL wanted to come in while I was laboring, but during the actual delivery I only want DH there.

For Ava, both my mom and Neil were with me. However, things got a little crazy and they had my mom leave.
Second time, I had my mom stay and while she was literally *right there* (yes the doctor told my mom to move lol), I'm glad she was there. She's much more calm and is used to being my voice when I don't have one.
She tells me all the time it was the most amazing thing watching Jack be born. I'm glad she was there.
I have some funny stories from both deliveries.....I'll tell ya at Christmas

My hubby and our doula will be present. As much as I love my Mom, I don't want anyone to undermine my husband's role in this, definitely don't want the "mother knows best" vibe in the room.
We are a Bradley couple, attended 12 weeks of classes and over 40 hours of lessons, I have faith in my hubby to be my rock, and we can lean our doula as our employee to provide additional support and guidance.

DH and I were the only two in the room when the baby (babies) were "made"... so he's the only one in there when they're on their way out.
If you have a supportive mother that will tolerate you at your worst (and not give any unnecessary/unsolicited advice), then do what you and DH are comfortable with.

This is how I felt and still feel. I know how badly my mother wants to be in the delivery room with us but for my first two deliveries, I still cherish those moments where it was just me, DH and our new baby -- alone in the dark room enjoying our miracle.  I'm very thankful that the midwives I used had given us those moments to just "be".
I'm hoping for the same with #3.
