ahh..cold cuts!
i'm newly pregnant (4 weeks) and just read while googling some pregnancy do's and don'ts that you're not supposed to have cold cuts.. meanwhile i've been bringing in turkey and roast beef wraps for lunch every day!! now that I know this i'll stop but just wanted to see if you think it may affect me this early on? ugh sorry i'm just so nervous about everything! thanks!

Don't stress yourself over what you already ate! The concern with cold cuts is the possibility of listeria from the machinery used to cut it. If you feel fine, then you don't have listeria 
Cold cuts are fine to eat if you buy them packaged. If you do buy them from a deli or supermarket, where they will have been on slicers, you can still eat them, just microwave them for 30 seconds before eating. That's enough to kill any possible bacteria that may be on it. HTH!

first off..congrats!!
My doctor said to try to avoid cold cuts unless it is warmed up. I say everything in moderation. I have had cold cuts a few times in the pregnancy but in my 2nd trimester.
Don't stress over what you ate already!

My Dr said they are fine as well - as long as they are from a reputable place and they haven't been sitting around for awhile.

My Dr. told me nothing about cold cuts but Im eating them anyway  Its one of my cravings...sometimes I have a sandwhich twice a week.

So happy to read this thread because for over a day I have been CRAVING a bologna and cheese sandwich. So random, I can't even remember the last time I had one.
I haven't had any cold cuts so far in this pregnancy and I'm 12w5d. I think I'll treat myself this week.

this. as long as you don't go to the shady bodega on the corner or eat the coldcuts that haven't been properly refridgerated on a cold cut platter or in a salad bar, you're pretty much set. the cases of listeria from cold cuts is so minimal, like less than 0.1%.
if it makes you feel better, i would ask the deli to throw away the first few slices before the packaged my cold cuts.

1. Congrats!!
2. Your not sharing a blood line yet.
3. Cold cut issues is more the health factor. Many of these can cause listeria i think , salmonella or e coli. As you are pregnant, your immune system is already compromised, so it makes you more susceptible to illness.. Be careful..

I had cold cuts a handful of times until 6 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it. If you're nervous, you could always heat them up. I'll probably do that when I eat them again.

The thought of heating it up grosses me out - so I didnt do that either...
but I do make sure they were within 24 hrs of being cut..I felt like the fresher, the better KWIM!?!? lol
