bumper outside of crib

I put the bumper on the outside because of recent reports of it being possibly unsafe to use inside crib. It kinda looks funny to me though. anyone else do this? i hate to waste it. not sure why i registered for bedding cant use blanket either (right away anyway) !!! cant return either because mil threw out packaging.

The concern is airflow so putting it outside is the same as putting it inside.

People who are bothered by the concern seem either to opt for breathable bumpers or none at all.

we have the bumpers still in the crib and plan on keeping them there until DS becomes more mobile (right now, he lies in the same position whenever he naps)

once he starts to move around, we'll switch them out with the breathable ones.
then eventually once he becomes strong enough/big enough/old enough to move himself away from the bumpers if he needs to, then we'll put them back in

i agree... its one of those funny things that they still sell, yet so many people recommend against using them (like the quilt that comes with the set).

I won't use my bumpers only bc of the issues that can be associated with them. A friend used them as 3-D decorative pieces on his walls. You can get thin nails and tack them to the wall along with the blanket as a wall decoration. I thought it was cute. I wish I had a picture for you.
