What are these pains?? I'm clueless...

So I have no idea what Braxton Hicks feels like, or if I've had them or not...

but what I DID experience today was pain in my lower abdomen, very low...

like bad period cramp pains, and it made it hard for me to stand up straight...lasted about a minute then was gone...

now i just feel slightly crampy but nothing unbearable

is that Braxton Hicks?? Some other sort of pain that is normal? or should I be concerned if it happens again??

Im thinking round liagment pains. But if your stomach got tight then it may be braxton hicks.

Your nearing the end these pains are normal just keep drinking

I don't remember if i noticed that it got tight...

my stomach has gotten tight, but not with the pains,

and then today i had the pains, but i don't recall it getting tight when i had the pain

Here is a little explanation of round ligament pain. Does this describe what you felt??


Round ligament pain refers to a type of pelvic pain caused by stretching of the round ligaments. This occurs more commonly on the right side of the pelvis.



Your uterus is normally the size of a pear. Thick ligaments, one of which is called the round ligament, hold your uterus in suspension within your abdomen. As the uterus grows in size and weight, these ligaments become very long and thin, stressing and tensing like rubber bands.
The ligaments pull and tug on nearby nerve fibers and sensitive structures, causing pain. The severity of pain can worry you. Although round ligament pain is uncomfortable, it is also very normal.
A ligament spasm, an involuntary contraction or cramp, usually triggers a sharp pain. These spasms are found more frequently on the right side than the left because of the normal tendency of the uterus to turn to the right.
You might awaken at night with pain after having suddenly rolled over in your sleep.
The pain may also be brought on by exercise.

I am thinking that if there was pain involved that it's not Braxton Hicks. I get them throughout the day and never have any pain. They feel exaclly like they did with DD. My entire belly gets rock hard and then releases after a minute or so.

When I get Round lig pain its generally with walking and I feel like I cant straighten up entirely. It passes in about 5 minutes.

My gf was getting a lot of crampiness lower down and her ob/gyn explained it's her uterus stretching with the growing baby. I only really had that in the first tri, she's well into her 3rd and still has it. HTH!!

Round ligament pains can be really painful. If I had to guess, I would say that is what it was.

I was having the same thing for days. It would come and go during the day and was making me miserable. I could barely stand up. Talked to the doctor and he said it was a must that I increase how much water I was drinking. I started drinking just about a gallon a day and it has done the trick! Rarely feeling these pains anymore, maybe just a little at night if I had a busy day. Hope this helps!
