question on baby "dropping"

Can someone help me understand something? I am 37 weeks. i went to the dr today and he said the baby is well in my pelvis region and I'm 50% effaced. My question for you guys is... if i'm 50% effaced & in my pelvis, shouldn't I look like the baby has "dropped?"
She is soooo high and everyone keeps waiting for me to "drop" unless I already did and didnt realize it.

Effaced refers to your cervix thinning.

Station refers to the position of the baby, so the baby is probably still high up.

I never really dropped. I was always high and even when I 10 cm dilated and fully effaced, she was high.
