Pertussis/Whooping Cough
did anyone's relatives give them a hard time about getting the vaccine? i'm adamant that our parents, siblings and grandparents be vaccinated b/c they will be in close contact with the baby and will see her often...well my grandparents seem to be annoyed by this and i don't know if they are going to get the booster...i don't think i'm being over the top about it, there have been outbreaks and babies can die from it so i don't see what the big deal is but my DH and I overheard them complaining about it on thanksgiving, saying they didn't have to get it when their last grandchild was born (10 years ago) so why do they have to get it now...they can be a PIA about things so i have a feeling i'm in for a lot of resistance next time it comes up (which will be soon since baby is due in Feb)
just curious if anyone else is asking their parents/brothers/sisters/grandparents to be vaccinated if they are going to be in close contact with your LO and if they had issues over it...

Our pediatrician told DH to get it and anyone that would be watching the baby, my mom will be getting it, not sure about MIL, etc..

i haven't spoken to any pediatricians yet but my OB said anyone who will be around the baby a lot should have it, especially if they are kissing the baby...so that's us, our parents and my grandparents...i imagine they will see the baby often and will be kissing on her tons...so i want them to get it...
my DH said if they don't they aren't allowed to touch the baby

my sister had her baby 2 months ago and is asking her DH's grandparents to get the vaccine because they will be watching him once she goes back to work. They understood and agreed to get it.
As for the rest of the family, she hasn't asked us to get it.
