1st ob appt today...transitioning from the RE is hard!

I was discharged from my RE on Friday, and saw my ob today, at 11w4d. I didn't know what to expect. All she did today was review my history and give me information. She said she didn't need to do a sono b/c I had had so many already with Dr. B. She also said she didn't need to do any bloodwork, which made me nervous, b/c I just stopped taking all my hormones on Friday, and I was kind of hoping for reassurance that everything was still okay. I was really hoping to see the baby again...there can never be too many sonos for me!

I have absolutely no reason to think that anything is wrong, but I'm still really nervous. I asked her about the doppler, and she said not to get one, b/c it will drive me crazy if I can't find the hb for some reason. She said she has one at home (and is currently in her second trimester with her 3rd), and sometimes, even she can't hear anything!

I go for my ultrascreen on Monday, and I'm sure I'll feel calmer after that, but then nothing until my 16 wk. appt on January 2nd! That's a hard transition from seeing my baby weekly!

How did you other ladies who transitioned from the RE cope between visits?

It is HARD!!! You go from seeing your LO every week to not seeing them for 4+ weeks (even more) at a time. I will say that it does get easier once you are out of your 1st tri and the ultrascreen is over. By that point, the baby is big enough and she should at least use the doppler on you each time you go for your monthly checkup. I have to admit though, for me, it seems to have made time go faster once I switched from the RE to the OB because then each appt you schedule one for 4 weeks away and before you know it those 4 weeks are up and you're another month closer to meeting your LO. It's scary but just try to keep remembering that you're RE wouldn't have discharged you to your OB unless it was going well and that's a positive sign! Plus, it's nice not having to get up at the crack of dawn for monitoring!

I think those first few weeks after the RE were the longest!! I was sooo nervous between each appointment. I told myself that I would relax after my NT scan but after that I got nervous again waiting for my 16 week appt. After that one I finally started to relax more but even now at 21 weeks I get nervous if I don't feel her kicking enough. It definitely gets easier but for me the nerves always creep back up. I'm definitely much better than I was early on though. Good luck, you'll get through it!

It's very hard, but it gets easier. Although I have a large fibroid so I had to have a sono every visit, but as time goes on you will get a little more comfortable. Hang in there, just take it day by day. And Dr. B is awesome...he is there if you ever need anthing!

I'm sure it can be a difficult transition, but those four weeks will come and go so fast you really won't realize it.
