Homemade Christmas ornament by toddler?
I would love to have DS make his first ornament this year, but I never did that and I'm not sure what type of ornament a 20 month old can make (with my help of course!)
An ideas? Pictures of examples?

Re: Homemade Christmas ornament by toddler?
maybe a acorn one? let him paint glue on the acron then roll it in gilter & you hot glue a ribon on it to hang from the tree
Felt Raindeer. Cut childs handprint out on brown felt then you cut the shapes for eyes & tail and use pipe cleaner for antliers. Help child glue pieces in place.
wreath and candycane- cut a small circle out of cardboard and let child glue green and red cotton balls to the circle same for candy cane just differnt shape & color cotton Image Attachment(s):

Re: Homemade Christmas ornament by toddler?
I bought DS (22 months) some of those little wooden shapes from the craft store (29 cents each!). They had Xmas ones (tree, snowflake, reindeer and snowman) I got a little set of washable paints and he painted them. I'll put a small hole in the top and string them so we can hang them.
He'll also make a few of these for some of our family as his gift to them.

Re: Homemade Christmas ornament by toddler?
I cannot find pictures of them but I've made, in the past, with my nephews two different snowmen ornaments that I'd like to try with DS this year.
One was to get those dixie cup icecreams that come with the little curvy flat wooden spoon. Let DC paint it white. Cut out a top hat shape in black felt or paper. DC can glue it on. Use a black marker to make buttons and face. Cut an orange carrot nose out of felt or paper for DC to glue on. Tie a strip of fabric, felt or yarn around indent for a scarf. Add a pipe cleaner hook or yarn loop to hang.
The other was to take a quarter and trace it on white cardstock. Three on top of each other, like a snowman. I guess you can leave it as that but the directions I had (not sure if I saw it on tv or a magazine, it was years ago) added four more traced quarter circles, arm and leg on each side of the three. Make them all touch in the center. Cut the cardstock around the outside of all circles. Have DC put glue on all of the circles and stick 7 cotton balls on each of the circles. Use a hole punch to make black dots to use for buttons, mouth and eyes. Cut orange carrot nose and black top hat. DC can glue those on. Add yarn loop for hanging.
While searching for pics online, I did see a lot of cute snowman crafts with cottonballs. On a full page, not ornaments though.
