Confusion re: how far along I am...

So I had a Dr's appointment this Wed 11/15. At that time, my EDD was (i thought) 6/24, which according to websites like thebump, that put me at 8 weeks 3 days.

So at the Dr, they reviewed my sonogram from Madonna and apparently my EDD is 6/21 instead of 6/24 (I must've heard the radiologist wrong), so the Dr. tells me that as of Wednesday I was 9 weeks, 1 day. That didn't make any sense to me at all, cause I thought we would just add on 3 days and I would be 8 weeks 6 days.

ANYWAYS--- I input my EDD into thebump, and it says what I thought 8 weeks, 6 days, and THEN to add to the confusion... I just called Madonna to set up my Ultrascreen appt and when I informed them that the new EDD is 6/21, they said that puts me at exactly 12 weeks on friday, 12/9. That doesn't make any sense to me!! lol. I'm so confused, cause according to my Dr. I will be 12 weeks on Tuesday 12/6.

When it comes down to it, a 3 day difference isnt a big deal to me, but I just don't understand why it's all different.

OMG! My head is spinning just from reading that! I can't imagine how you feel!

The only thing I can think of is maybe the baby was measuring a few days off at the time of the appt so they changed the date but not "officially" changed the date. Like for me, we did IVF to get pregnant so we know the exact date of conception which would put my EDD at 4/9. But one time when I went to my RE the baby measured a little small so they put my EDD at 4/10. When I look at my paperwork at my OB office sometimes I see 4/9 written, other times I see 4/10 written. Maybe its the same idea in your case as well?

At my first sonogram I had one due date based on my last menstrual period (12/16) and one based on how the baby was measuring (12/14).
My doctor went with the LMP because he said that is more accurate-- but at the end of the day also noted that anything + or _ a few days is inconsequential.

As PP stated, your EDD is first calculated by your last menstrual.
Sometimes that date is re-calculated based on your gestation (ie, size, weight, or stage)
