flu shot

I don't ever like getting vaccinations. I have a lot against it and would rather not get a flue shot while 7 months pregnant.

I mentioned it to my doctor and she said since I'm a teacher, I'm at high risk. I understand this but I really don't want to get the shot.

She told me about the mercury free one and I still said no. She said next month I need to get it but I think she might not remember ;)

Anyone not get one?

I am being a rebel but I recently stopped working. I did work in a nursing home up until last week, and I would have had it if I stayed. I haven't made a decision if I will get it but I am demanding my DH to get it. He will be still workiing when the baby is first born and you want to make sure he doesn't bring it home with a newborn.

Also, I have had the flu shots a few different times, and never had a bad reaction. The anxiety for me of putting that stuff in my body is the worst part.

I really hate when doctors INSIST you need one. I got sick after mine and I never had one in my life. My doctor was annoying about it and I did it anyway since I didn't pay for it, but still. I wish I was more firm because I was miserable about a week ago and I can swear it was a reaction.

And I don't work either, I'm home. DH works in a paint store, doubt he's gonna get it too.

i refused it at work but have not been asked by my md yet. i really don't want it and i've never taken it before.

I got the flu shot, and I also got it to protect my baby from getting the flu once she's born.

I remember one year I didn't get it and I got the flu and felt like I was going to die!!! I told myself I would never not get the shot again.

i teach and knew i was at high risk too, and unfortunately ive heard too many stories of flu-related complications during pregnancy and delivery that id rather be safe than sorry. jmo though. bottom line, its up to you. do what you are most comfortable with!

I got it on the off chance that I got the flu - I was more afraid of the complications. I got my DS the shot as well. After that pregnant lady died of the flu a few years ago, I wouldn't take any chances.

I got one and am thankful I did. i spent 4 days in the hospital and picked up a cold in there....Just think it could have been worse if I didnt have the flu shot.

I am not a person to even take tylenol and never had a flu shot but this is not the time to skip it.

I'm still on the fence about getting one. I never got the shot before and never had the flu. I'm a teacher too and this year I have been sick a few times already. I had a stomach virus in September which landed me in the hospital with contractions and I am battling a cold now. I usually never get sick so I'm leaning towards getting the shot bc my immune system seems to be shot at the moment. I'm nervous about side effects though but I think I will end up getting it.

I didn't get it..neither did my SIL who is a teacher. Personal choice.

I work in a school also, but as a school psychologist, so I'm not with children all day, but definitely exposed to them at some point daily.
I'm not getting the flu shot, I'm not a fan IMO.
Whenever I finish a session with a child, I always wipe down my desk and any pencils he/she used with a Clorox wipe.
I also am constantly with the anti bacterial hand gel.
I also never touch my face/hair, etc throughout the day.

Sorry I can't edit on the iPad but wanted to add that my doctor was trying to force me to get it, which kind of turned me off. I feel like it's my body, my choice. I told him I was going to get it at CVS just to get him off my back!

I've never had the flu shot and have'nt had the flu in years...that I know of.
But my OB and primary care physician recommended it and I got it. I would not want this to be the year I finally get the flu, what with our immune system not being at its best during pregnancy.

Plus, I have a couple of inconsiderate co-workers that come to work while sick.

IT's one thing to take the risk of getting it myself but to put my unborn child at risk...no that's ok, I'll definitely be getting it soon. What's bad for you is usually 10x worse for an unborn or newborn baby.

And for those of you that say "Oh well I don't work or DH doesn't work anywhere that's common for germs to spread." - you could get it from someone just by simply coming in contact with something they touched at the food store, bank, dr., anywhere! When my twins were born I got it as did DH, both sets of our parents and our brothers and sisters. I'll be damned if Im not going to do everything in my power to protect my young baby.

I don't plan to get one. do your reasearch, a lot of the vaccines have much lower then originally stated protection rates.

I opted not to get one. I've never had one and I don't know how my body would react plus, I'm still on the fence regarding the medical studies.
