Binkies and CIO. Help.

Im at my witts end. This child will not sleep. It takes hours to put her down.
She lies down sleeping, wakes 10 min later.
Problem: she needs binkie to sleep and its at the point where its time to CIO. How do you let them CIO if she needs a binkie to sleep?
I keep going in there and putting it back in...she drops it when shes crying.

I just did it today with my 6 month old. He wakes up like 6 times before 9 just to have the binky put back in. So today for nap time I put him in the crib, gave him a binky and walked out he cried for about 20 mins or so and fell asleep with out the binky and didn't wake up to have it put in. So I assume they will just learn to fall asleep with out it.

It isn't CIO but I am reading the no cry sleep solution and she addresses how to get them to stop waking up and crying for the paci (or the breast if a lo uses that as "sucking to sleep". It might be worth looking into. Planning on doing that w/my lo, but not quite yet.

I don't know, I feel like 4 months is early, esp. because they can't put the binky back in themselves. For me, I didn't try until DS could put it back in himself. I'm not going to lie, it was an awful couple months of going in every 1/2 hour for the binky, but it's a stage, and it will soon be done. You can get through it, and she'll learn to put it in herself.

4 months is a little early for CIO, IMO. I tried it at the same age b/c DS would NOT STTN. My eyes bled.... Nothing but belly sleeping would work. Even then, he still woke 3-4 times per night. It wasn't until he was 10 months old that he STTN. Not something you want to hear, I know!

When his binky fell out, I'd go in, pop it back in, and walk out. He was pretty good about falling asleep on his own, but again, he was on his belly. At around 7 months, (maybe earlier?) he could put it in himself. I kept a half dozen of them in his crib. Pick your battles and figure out what will work best for you. If you think she needs a binky, don't let the poor baby cry for one - she won't sleep unless she has it. Worry about STTN later. I feel your pain!

I did CIO for sleep and binkie at the same time. It may have been mean but, we got rid of the binkie in 2 days and got him to sttn at the same time..... not that the sttn lasted. Maybe for a week... but, that's a whole different story.

Maybe try a pacimal ! Kaylee is almost 5 months old , and can pick it up herself bc it is attached to a stuffed animal . I can't think of what else to do Here is a past rave post of mine Pacimal rave
