Braxton Hicks?
Twice in the middle of the night last night I was woken up by what felt like someone taking a rolling pin and slowly moving it down my stomach, pretty hard. When I felt my stomach it was bulging a bit and ROCK hard. Could this be Braxton Hicks? Baby changing positions? Or too early for all of that? FTM, 18w, and a little worried. Thanks.

I didn't get Braxton Hicks till about 26 weeks with my first pregnancy, and around 21/22 with my second. I would *think* 18 weeks is a bit early for it, but I'm no expert!

thats it! Had the same thing and OB said it was Braxton Hicks. Drink lots of water he said and you wont feel it as much.

I had a BH contraction at 18 weeks after going on a very strenuous walk with my dog. I've had 2 more since...I'm 21 weeks now. I told my doctor, and while she said it was a bit early she wasn't concerned because they're not frequent

Thanks everyone. It has happened a few more times today. I have a doc apt tomorrow morning already so I'll definitely be running it by him. Thanks again.

I've been having them since 15 weeks  The tummy tightening and feeling rock hard sounds like BH for sure. When I first got them it was like an egg sized rock hard lump that I thought might have been the baby but it was really BH.
I get them a lot at night too. I'm drinking a gallon of water a day, doctors orders and it helps.

Wait...you mean that hard lump that comes and goes on the right side of my stomach every day is not the baby?? I always thought it was her heel or something?

That might be the baby. When I got BH with last pregnancy and this one my whole belly gets hard not just one spot.

Oh no, sorry, I meant early on. At 15 weeks, when it started happening to me, it's not the baby, that is when I experienced the egg sized lump on one side, it would hurt and it would get super hard like a rock and then release after about 30 seconds.
Now I am 24 weeks and my entire lower belly will get hard during a BH but when I had them early on it was only a hard lump about the size of an egg, it would actually stick out a little that I could see it but I'm also very thin. Stupid me thought maybe it was the baby curling up into a ball. The doctors and nurses explaind to me that it was Braxton Hicks and not the baby. I called them because it was freaking me out and it hurt, then it turns out I had a UTI that was triggering the contractions and now I'm still drinking a gallon of water a day as per my OB. Everything from my belly button under gets hard when I have a BH now.
I think what you are experiencing is def your baby since you are further along. I know when you get close to the third trimester and until the end you can sometimes see body parts!

if its BH your entire belly would get hard. sounds like you have a foot or heal or even the baby arching its back out. its also a little early to have them although technically you can have them as early as 9 weeks, most people don't feel them until 20+ weeks.
