14 months old....still doesnt wave bye bye or clap hands....
anyone else have a child with no interest in clapping hands or waving bye bye and a bunch of other things? she is 14 months old and im starting to get worried bc i keep seeing kids as little as 7 months doing these things!
i try to teach her clap hands (for months now!) and she has no interest, she screams and pulls her hands out of mine.
shes reached her major milestones on target as far as sitting, crawling, walking, etc... its these little ones she doesnt do.

Mine JUST started this at 13 months. He was an early walker, a late roller (where I got annoyed at my ped for asking ALL the time if he could roll).
I don't make a huge thing out of going "bye-bye"... so I think he just never learned it. I don't want to emphasize that I'm leaving him.
As for hand clapping... I also never really did applause for things he did.
At 13 months, after some "training"... DS got the idea. He likes clapping... but still only intermittently does bye bye.
IMO: don't worry.

what else should she be imitating?
i really feel like i have dropped the ball on 'teaching' her things and just always let her do what she wanted...she is one of those kids who throws a fit if you try to make her do something she doesnt want to.

Actually, my DS didn't clap hands until around 14 months or so. He was doing other stuff, but had no interest in clapping hands. Then one day he fell and when he got up, he clapped for himself (we always clapped when he fell to let him know it's ok etc). Since then, he claps for other reasons and when we sing If you're happy and you know it, he claps.
I think sometimes they just do things when they WANT to do them even if they know.
