Vent regarding my blood disorder
I am so annoyed right now. I have been seeing my obgyn once a month and when I see him he routinely checks my platelets. I have ITP - having platelets that get too low can cause hemoraging, a brain hemorage and other serious complications. I have never been in the "danger zone" my #'s always hover right above it but I still get anxiety that it can happen one day.
So - they did a CBC yesterday and usually I call the next day to get the results. The receptionist answered and said there is no medical staff in the office today and she cannot read the results to me , so basically I am SOL. So I don't have to suffer anxiety all weekend, I called my hematologist and asked them if I can just stop in the check my #'s. But of course, as usual, my hematologist has overbooked and they couldnt fit me in. So the receptionist says "I really don't know what to tell you"
It just annoys me. They don't suffer from this blood disorder or the anxiety that comes along with it so they don't give a crap. Now I have to wait until Tuesday to get my results because of the holiday weekend. So I told the receptionist that I'll just cross my fingers and hope I dont suffer a brain hemorage. And she was just like "ok, bye"

Re: Vent regarding my blood disorder
That really sucks. Could you call the OB again and ask for a doctor to call you back? Maybe they can fax the results over to you?

Your hematologist can pull your labs even if didn't draw it and call u back with results. When I changed OBs the new doctor was able to get my labs from sunrise labs that my old doctor took.

Yes, I am currently looking into a new one. i am so sick of the overbooking. I am waiting sometimes an hour to an hour and a half to see him. So annoying. Sometimes there are sick cancer patients waiting that long too, its just wrong.

Re: Vent regarding my blood disorder
I wish I had some advice for you. My sister has ITP and is 30 weeks pregnant, so I know how dangerous it can be when your levels get too low.

Re: Vent regarding my blood disorder
I know exactly how you feel. I have ITP for about 7 years now. It is soooo scary and the anxiety of going to any dr for a cbc is insane. Can u go to your family dr to get a cbc?? I have a great hematologist. I travel to Riverhead to see him but after the nightmare of the first hematologist I had, I would drive to Florida and back to see this one. He is amazing. He actually worked with me on my treatments instead of prednisone and it has been 4 years since my last treatment and my plats have been amazing, never below 170k. I am now 30 weeks pregant and they are even better than before. If you would like the drs info FM me. Good Luck hope your numbers are good.....
