Hardwood floors vs Laminate
Which is better?
We are going to get all new floors through the house. I want something that will last- that I dont want to do again in 10-15 years.
I love the look of hardwood floors but it is so expensive- laminate is alot cheaper. Does it look cheaper down? Is it easy to clean? durable?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have no clue about this stuff!

We have the wide plank laminate which actually looks like wood. But the second you walk on it, you know it's not just by the sound. We love it though and it's very easy to maintain, but it can't be refinished. If I was in a house I knew i'd be in forever i'd go for real wood.

This is our summer and weekend house but in about 8 years we will be moving and living there year round. That what I am afraid of with laminate- that you cant refinish it.
I am so confused!

We just put down real hardwood. Everyone that we spoke to said to go for the real wood. It really wasnt that much more in price and we are able to refinish it. The only thing that will cost more is installation b/c there is more work involved. I say put real wood.

we have both (laminate in the kitchen and hard wood in the living/dining room) and i prefer the hard wood over the laminate. i like the look of it better and it's not as hard. the laminate is so loud when you walk on it.

we have laminate downstairs and hardwood throughout our upstairs.
honestly i like both - they are different, but my downstairs tv room is one of my favorite rooms in the house. i get compliments on it all the time, so i don't think it looks "cheap". it's a dark cherryish color. in the fall it will be 2 years that we put it down, so it's not that long but it's held up well so far, with 2 dogs. i mostly clean it with the swiffer and it cleans easy.

i would do real wood if you can afford it. we have real wood throughout our house except for our den- the previous owners of our house put down laminate and it scratches REALLY easily... its starting to look bad, eventually i have to replace it down the road
