Dumb question about warming formula

I know most formula bottles say not to warm in the microwave. Is that just because of "hot spots"? Could I just pour cold formula in a mug, nuke it for a few seconds, stir it, check it for temp and poor it into a bottle? Putting it in hot water takes too long sometimes (mostly the 4 am bottle!) Is it bad in any other way to microwave formula?

Re: Dumb question about warming formula

I can say with both boys I used the microwave. I put it in just to take the chill out. Then I swirl it around and give it to him, no issues.

Microwaves do heat unevenly creating hte hot spots so you just have to shake it to make sure there aren't any.

ALso I heat it right in the bottle. we use hte playtex drop ins.

Re: Dumb question about warming formula

Using the microwave, in general, evaporates water, so it would seem you're changing the dilution slightly too.

I honestly am worried about hot spots and just simply will not do it. 4 minutes of convenience is not worth risking DD possibly getting severe burns in her mouth and throat.

Why don't you just serve your baby cold bottles instead if you can't wait?

Re: Dumb question about warming formula

i would put a cup of water into the microwave and than put the bottle in the water . the water is more hot so it heats faster.
