Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
No warning that I was aware of. It was about 3AM a little over a week before my EDD and I was sleeping but trying to roll over (maybe a contraction woke me up ) I was laying there feeling like a turtle trying to move when I felt what was like (sorry - TMI) if you've ever felt a gush with your period - like you know it's on it's way out? Once I stood up, it came out - and then it kept going in spurts for hours (I had to go to the hospital - farily right away -because DS was breech and they had to do a C-section which they scheduled for 8:30 once I called and told them my water broke.)

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
I was lying in bed and felt a very strong pain. I thought something may be starting so got up to use the bathroom TMI, i peed and lets just say it was a huge gush. There was no second guessing that my water had just broke.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
I had to be induced so I went in the night before.... I was given a sleeping pill and offered pain meds but passed b/c I was 100% comfortable. By 3 am, I was cramping and asked for pain meds. (I thought it was from the cervadil...) By 6 am, I lifted my head off the pillow and G U S H!!!! My water broke and I was having contractions every 4 minutes! Looking back, that 3am cramping was contractions but I had no idea!
I can't say this would've happened if I didn't have Cervadil or not, but I was sure happy to be in the hospital and not my own bed when my water broke. It was a huge gush!

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
No warning whatsoever. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and when I sat down, swoosh! Not tons but it kept starting and stopping.
I was 36 weeks and 2 days so I definitely wasn't expecting it.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
I was having back pain for a couple of hours beforehand, combined with the fact that i was a four days late already, so I kind of new something was up.
I wouldn't worry about it. Just jump in the pool if it happens!

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
With my first there was no warning. No contractions, nothing. It was a gush of fluid while I was sleeping at exactly 39 weeks. This time I've been having contractions, but no water breaking yet.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
My water broke only with my first pregnancy. I had been having contractions all day from when I woke up that morning, about an hour apart. I knew the baby was coming, but my water didn't break until 12 hours later and I had no warning that it was going to break when it happened. I did feel enough going on that I didn't wander too far from home that day.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
No signs at all. It broke in the middle of the night when I got up to go to the bathroom
eta - I got my first contraction about an hour later, on the way to the hospital. They checked my cervix when I got there and I wasn't dialated at all. I had to get pitocin

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
My water broke well into contractions with both my kids. Probably about 8 hours into hard labor with both of them.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
My first 3 babies it didn't break until I was in the hospital. With my 4th baby I was half naked on the exam table at my doctors offices (4 days past my due date) when it popped. I had been having contractions for a few hours before it popped that day.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
I remember the childbirth class leader saying how some women hear a pop when their water breaks. I DID hear a pop, but I was sitting on the couch and did NOT move! a half hour later, I got up and I was in fact dripping. It varied in the few hours I stayed home from dripping to leaking to gushing. But it really came out of nowhere.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
no warning at all in terms of contractions. It broke while I was lying in bed one night. looking back I had been feeling lethargic and nauseous that day but no contractions that I could feel. I actually never dilated so ended up with a c section.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
My water broke in a restaurant...no joke. No warning at all. I guess I could have been having mild contractions, but I didn't feel anything. It was the day before my due date.
Went home cleaned up a bit and met my doctor at the hospital. Had my DD about 10 hours after my water broke.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
No warning at all for me either. I woke up at 3:30am. I got up to pee and felt a trickle down my leg. I thought I accidentally peed myself a little or something and as I walked to the bathroom, it kept trickling. I sat on the toilet and suddenly felt a big gush. I started having very light contractions after that and DS was born 24 hours later.

Re: Question for those momMas whose water broke
No warning...AT ALL
It was Christmas Eve at noon and I was at Bath and Body Works my VERY 1st day off of bedrest when a felt this warm gush and a little boy behind me asked his mother why this fat lady peed her pants I was stunned. I had to go through the list: I had not sneezed, coughed, breathed, walked, waddled, or even moved. I knew it was my water. I had no warning and the contractions started about 1-2 hrs later. At 36wks with this baby I will be wearing depends and a pad in public...I am NOT kidding about this.
