2 days in San Francisco w/ 15m old...help!

We are leaving Friday for a trip to Cali.

We fly into LA Friday morning and have all day Friday and Saturday in LA. We are leaving LA super early Sunday morning and driving up the coast to San Francisco (stopping halfway overnight)

We will arrive in San Fran early afternoon on Monday. So, we have 1/2 day on Monday and a full day on Tuesday before we leave Wed morning.

We definitely want to go to Muir Woods, Lombard Street and ride the cable car and Golden Gate bridge.

Other than that- what should we see and do? We have such limited time and there's so much in SF!

Please help!

I would definitely try to hit up Pier 39. Your daughter might get a kick out of the sea lions on the docks there. Good restaurants around there too, and then you could head up to Ghirardelli Sq.

If you want to do the Golden Gate bridge, go to Fort Point and park on Monday - they are closed on Tuesdays.

Fort Point

This is probably the best place to see the bridge. From there, if you are still in the mood to drive, you could head up to Muir Woods. It is a little bit north of the city, probably under an hour if you aren't in commute traffic. Muir Woods is spectacular and I took every visitor there to see it when I lived out there.

No offense to the previous poster, but i would skip Pier 39. It's very touristy and you won't see much there that you don't see at other touristy spots in other cities, unless you really want to see the sea lions. You can go out to Ocean Beach and see some sea lions out there and visit the Cliff house and Golden Gate Park. There is a lot to do in the park, but it's nice to even just walk around.

If you do Muir Woods on Monday, you could do your cable car ride and Lombard St. in the morning on Tuesday. The cable car turnaround at Market St. that goes to the water is usually more crowded than the one that runs along California street. If you want to do Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, you can take the cable car there and walk around. I personally love walking around North Beach and Chinatown and used to take visitors to Coit Tower for the view. If it isn't too foggy, the best view of the city is from Twin Peaks, but get good directions from someone if you decide to go up there.

Thank you both so much!

After I wrote this I was doing a bit more research and was considering doing a cruise from Pier 39 around alcatraz, under the bridge and back.

I def. want to hit up Ghiradelli and Golden Gate Park...I may take your advice DPLI and do Muir woods on Monday.

It's so hard to plan an itinerary when you don't know the area and there's a toddler involved Chat Icon Besides the fact that I'm 20wks pg Chat Icon
