What did you get at your baby shower...

that you didn't register for?

Was it a different brand of something you DID register for? If so, did you get gift receipts?

Or did you just get completley different items?

Or did you get pretty much everything you registered for, but just bought at another store or not taken off the registry? We registered at BBB, BRU and Amazon, so there aren't many other store options out there...

My shower is 6 days away, and so many of the big, needed items are still not bought. I hate to sound greedy, but it's really making me nervous that so many items are unaccounted for. I thought I was going to see a lot of action yesterday, but nothing...

Among our most necessary items we're missing are our play yard, 2 car seats, infant carrier, video monitor, bouncer, entertainer "walker", baby gates, etc. And I really did a LOT of research for the specific items I registered for to make sure they were the best/safest/highest parent rated, etc.

I don't see many people shopping today, on Father's Day. And then the work week. Is there any hope that these things will be purchased?

What's your experience with this? TIA!

Have no worries, SOOOOO many people shop last minute - like RIGHT before the shower.

My shower is Saturday too and nothing has moved off it for 3 weeks, with my last baby people only bought a few things and bought what they "thought" i needed, i have a feeling i will be buying out my registry next week....im registered at Amazon.com so it's not like they can go to a store....

people buy the last minute, like literally on the way to the shower! and hopefully you get lots of gift cards too so you can buy what's left over. Also, with my aunt and cousin recently they registered at BBB and for some reason when people bought it was not coming off the registry so they ended up with 2 or more of the same for so many big items and had to return them etc.
one way or another you'll get everything you need!!

I had a lot of the smaller items purchased beforehand.
Up until about 2 days before the larger items were still sitting on the registry... I figured we would end up having to buy them. But those last 48 hours some really big purchases flew off the registry!!

Then the day of I received a few items that didn't come of the registry.

All in all I got a lot of stuff from my registry. Though there was still some things i needed to buy myself. I did a good amount of that shopping already... but still have more to buy.

I still have to buy a stroller and my bedding. I also didn't get the regular car seat, but I bought that already. And I didn't get any towels or matress covers, I didn't have enough changing covers, bottles and a good amount of other smaller things.

However... I really got a lot of great and amazing gifts at the shower. It was an ENORMOUS help!!! I was more then thankful!! And even after the shower... gifts still came in the mail!!! I was def pleasantly surprised!!!

So weird... yesterday NOTHING came off. TODAY - Father's Day (when I didn't think anyone would be shopping) - someone bought our little Piano Entertainer, our Infant Carrier, the Seat Savers for the car seat, the BundleMe, a TON of onesies for each age bracket - and someone went NUTS buying a bunch of adorable little toys that we didn't register for, but that they scanned off my registry, which is awesome.

It's just exciting to see ACTION!



I can't imagine what this house is going to look like after our shower! I'm sure it will REALLY hit then!!

Just wanted to mention that there were A LOT of items we received off our registry but for some reason the registry never showed this. Not sure if people were getting the registry scanned at the register or what.

But as for gifts we didn't register for but received...

Around We Go (stand up activity center)
Travel gym.... not the expensive one we had on the registry (the thing with toys hanging down and a tummy time mat).
First tooth/first curl/piggy bank keepsake - never thought to put that.
Blankets, handmade and store bought
Tons of bibs
Handprint/footprint frame
Tons of bath toys
Books
Stuffed animals

ETA: I know my high chair was bought 2 days before the shower.

I pretty much only got items I registered for, or "close enoughs", like obviously they set out to buy something on the registry, but the store didn't have exactly that one, so got the next best thing...but not major things, like breathable bumpers, silly things like that. Though all the large items that were not bought straight off the bat did remain unpurchased. We had to do a pretty comprehensive and expensive cleanup day at BBB to get our swing, monitor, extra carseat base, etc.

People do things SO last minute.

I got a lot of clothes (which I did not register for) and books. I have about 4 copies of Goodnight Moon, which does nothing for my 9 month old.

I also got a lot of certificates, which I used to buy the stuff from my registry. BTW: the big ticket items are usually bought by your immediate family...
