Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
What did you bring/wear while you were in the hospital? I don't really have any nightgowns...just silky ones...and I want to make sure I am presentable for family and friends...what can you suggest? TIA!!
I know that this is a silly question, but I would like to look as good as possible during this time!
Did you wear cotton?

Sorry to barge in on your post but I've been wondering the same thing. Also, can you wear pants (like pajama pants) or does it have to be a nightgown?

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
I slept in cotton nightgowns that I got at Target for cheap, so that I wouldn't care if they got ruined.
During the day I wore sweats and t-shirts. Just make sure they are not too snug, if you have a section it may irritate your stitches.

I wore my hospital gown the first 24 hours and the final 24 hours I wore a Tshirt and a pair of Dh's boxers.
I had some super nice nursing gowns but I didn't want to ruin them.
A robe was a must though by hour 30 if you are like me you are so ready to go home and having the robe makes you feel better about walking around the halls.

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
I had a c/section so I wore the hospital gown the first day - I wore sweats and tanks during the day after that and bought a cheap flannel night shirt from target - a lot of people say they didn't want to ruin things, but you know what? nothing was ruined on my end. I did bring a robe which was nice when I need to get up to go the bathroom and what not... slippers were a MUST for me as well! I LIVED in my slippers for the 3 days I was there!

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
I also wore the hospital gowns, one with the opening in the front and then another with the opening in the back.
A friend got me a lovely nursing gown with a matching outfit for Aidan, but I did not want to mess it up.
I had a section, and maybe its just me but I did make a mess of the gowns and I didn't want anything coming remotely close to my staples.
ETA: yes! slippers are a must!

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
I've read that you want to bring something comfy (my best friend did sweats) and easy access if you will nurse. Also, lots of socks and lots of changes of undies in case you bleed through.
I'm all about comfort, so I'm assuming I'll do sweatpants and tees (it'll be early Jan here in GA).
I also asked her about looking good for visitors and wearing makup---she said no way.

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
I never wear nightgowns but I read that they are good so I bought two cheap ones at JC Penneys and wore then and my robe pretty much each day. They only came around to check down there once so not sure if a nightgown is necessary. But something comfy is. The robe was very important - esp since my son was in NICU and I had to keep drudging up and down the halls just to go see him and feed him and I since I wore a nightgown - it was easiest to throw on to walk down the halls or when company came. Slippers are nice or big comfy socks are also key! I didn't ruin anything at all either. I was bleeding heavily but wore two pads and those mesh panties they give you (I am the rare person who kind of liked them - at least for this purpose) and was fine!

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
I suggest the night gown...because if fo any reason u need a c-section...the pants may rub the wrong way on your staples. I would still bring sweat pants...but ust be prepared with at least 1 or 2 night gowns....preferably ones that button down so that you can nurse or pump if that is what you choose to do.

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
The first night I wore the hospital gown, but after that I wore sweats and my husband's v-neck tee shirts ( I had a c-section and the pants didn't rub me the wrong way...they were drawstring). I also recommend sports bras to those who are not nursing. I had a robe and slippers and those were the best....especially the slippers!

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
Get some cheapy night gowns. I was bleeding all over the place (sorry, TMI) and I didn't want to use anything that was good. And bring your worst undies possible. I was very glad I left the V/S's home.

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
I wore the hospital gown most of the time. But when I had guests I wore a terry clothe robe with a zipper in front from JCPenney. Easy access for those who are BF and it's very comfy. It's also great to wear at home

Re: Clothes (Nightgown & Bathrobe) to hospital?
My mom and MIL also bought me beautiful nursing gowns and one to match my son...I had a c-section and it was the best thing because I was so scared that something would rub agaisnt my incesion!! They were so comfy and easy to operate with since it hurt to bend with the section and all I had to do was lift up the gown to pee!! LOL sorry TMI Ps-Slippers are a must in the hospital as well!
