Period like cramps at 5 weeks?

I know cramping is a very common occurrence in pregnancy-- but I just kinda feel like the cramps have been kinda persistent since I woke up this morning. I haven't had any spotting, in fact I had a blood test today to make sure numbers are rising-- I will find out results tomorrow. I didn't mention anything while at my docs office because I knew they'd just tell me it's normal.

I just hate the beginning when you don't know what's happening yet!

How many others had this? On and off cramps I have had-- but I just feel like these are more persistent which has me worried.

totally normal! had the same with both my pregnancies. It's hard not to be scared but it's going to happen for a while!

I definitely had cramping very early on which made me very nervous even though everyone was telling me it was normal. When I went for my first ob appt at 8 weeks I mentioned it to the doctor. He did a sono just to make sure everything was ok. So far everything has been fine. I'm 18 weeks.

Early on I had cramps that felt like AF was on her way. Sometimes they came and went and other times they stuck around for a couple of hours.

The good thing is you were just at the doctor, so hopefully they will be able to see that your numbers are right where they should be.

I remember feeling like I was about to get my period for a while in the beginning.

Crashing

Cramping is completely normal in the begginning. I had cramping SO bad I was in tears most of the day. All I could do was take warm baths and lay in bed and cry, tylenol did NOTHING. I spotted a little too, whenever I asked the Dr. about it they said it was normal. It lasted almost 3 weeks like that!

It stinks but it will pass

Totally normal. For me they started to not happen as much towards the end of the 5th week.

I had them. In fact, that was my first pg symptom - I NEVER get cramps before my period, only during Day 1 and Day 2. So in December, when I wasn't bleeding and had persistent cramps, I was like, "hmmm... I wonder..."

I had them on and off for a couple of weeks after my bfp. I was seeing an RE at the time (fertility doctor) and she told me it was normal, as long as I wasn't bleeding. Stuff has to stretch out a lot down there to make room for what's coming!

thanks girls-- I know it's normal, but it's hard not to question everything. And it's also impossible to take it easy with a 2 yr old that wakes up at 5am and naps for an hour and runs around all day!

I just want to get my results tomorrow, and see a HB next week at my first appt. Then I will relax a little... LAst time I was seeing an RE, and I was monitored much closer and I had the ear of the doc more.

I am 5 weeks today, so I assumed symptoms would kick in this week...

Yes, totally normal. I had them as well. If it is followed with bright red blood then you need to call your doctor, otherwise, the baby is just settling in!
