Did anyone NOT get anything from their seller?
We didn't....but at that point, I think we all hated each other.

I didn't get anything from the seller. Actually we were told that on the same day of closing the seller went in the backyard and in the garage. He took a patio table (which yes was technically his) but still trespassing none the less.

No, didn't get anything from the seller. we didn't expect anything.
Our real estate agent gave us a personalized front door mat. And our mortgage broker gave us a bottle of wine.

This is my 3rd purchase/sale and I've never received or given a gift from sellers or buyers. Is it typically done?
I've only received gifts from brokers (RE & mortgage).

yes and no. We were supposed to buy the BBQ from our seller, but at the closing (which was the first time we met him), he found out we were first time homebuyers and said to forget about the check for the BBQ.
So i guess that was kinda a gift, that and all the crap he left in the house/garage for us

We didn't get a gift from our sellers, but she was really nice in making sure all manuals and household paperwork for appliances etc. were all together in one spot. They also wrote down all of the local businesses that they had used-pizza, chinese, dog groomer etc. so we could get to know the neighborhood.

We didn't for either house, but gave the buyers of our old house a bottle of champagne. Also had our cleaning girl come in the day before closing...our buyers have no idea that this is not the way things usually go!

We didn't get anything...except leftover sheetrock, moulding, etc. It was a short sale though, so not expecting anything either. The seller was really nice though.

We got a bunch of toenail clippings in our sink Oh and some random beers they didnt feel like taking and some other CRAP in the attic and basement they didnt feel like taking that I guess they thought we'd like
Silly thing is they stayed in town so everyday I see the creep on the train station platform and you bet all his old neighbors now know what a pig he was too.

I did not get anything. They said they hoped we appreciated the "extras" they left us -- less than half a bag of "icy melt" (it was wintertime) and a couple of pieces of fire wood in the garage. And an old shower curtain liner ("old" as in used, not new in a package) under one of the bathroom sinks.
But I wasn't expecting anything beyond a "congratulations." It's more common for the realtor to get a housewarming gift for buyers, I think.

We got a bbq grill (small but nice Weber charcoal) because we could only use charcoal in the condo and the seller was moving to a house and getting a gas grill so she left it for us. She also left us a small cabinet in the bathroom and simple curtains in the kitchen. They were neutral and we left them when we moved too.

we told them they could leave a queen size mattress they were going to throw out so we had a bed for the spare room temporatily. they also left a bunch of old ugle lamps... but they did not leave us a "gift" if thats what you mean. Neither did the seller of my co-op when I had bought that.
I did not leave anything for the buyer of my co-op either... but they annoyed me from the start.
The only thing I have ever heard of was leaving a bottle of champagne in the fridge tho

Old USED condoms in a hole in the wall of their sons room Thankfully we tore down the wall to make a bigger bedroom or those would have been patched and we would have never known
