Leaving Thursday and still no passport? Update. They are overnighting it.
Update: They just called me they are overnighting it to me. I will have it tomorrow. Such relief.
Is there anything I can do. Sent it out two months ago for a renewal w/ name change then expedited last week. As of a moment ago, still processing and I'm leaving Thursday morning. Is there anything I can do???? i'm seriously desperate.

I've been through this. When you applied for your name change, did they ask you when your travel date was? They do when you get a new passport and they almost guarantee you'll get it by your travel date, especially if you did it 2 months in advance.

This is the number for the passport application status check. Once you check the status, you can speak to a representative. I have to say I found them EXTREMELY helpful when I was waiting for my passport. I called every day, several times a day and they always gave me very detailed, very up to date information. My passport still said "being processed" up until 2 days before I was supposed to leave, but the representatives I got always told me that it means little and it might be all ready to ship but just hasn't been put in the mail yet.
Long story short, I got the passport the DAY before I left for my trip. I had to leave early to pick it up at the FedEx location and barely made it even then.
All I can suggest is to keep calling that number! Here's a
link to a page with a little more info regarding what you can do. HTH!

Essentially you should have expedited at the time i application. I used to work for Passport services and this used to be a common occurance, tourist travel time is fast approaching. When you expedite after you have already applied, espcially 4+ weeks after the expedite only really applies to the shipping to you, the processing is a whole diferrent story, because it's a renewel, it's probably in the NH office (that's the renewel facility-they only do renewel's) so it's not far but whereas you are leaving Thursday if it's still processing as of today, it's not likely it's going to get to you by Thursday. Have you called the 1-800 number? Because you expedited already there isn't uch else to do besides making an appointment at one of the offices near you, they can do same day passport but you need to bring your travel information and itinerary, i would call the number, if they have not shipped it i would make appointment at one of the passport offices near you, that would be your best shot. Their number is 1-877-487-2778. MAKE SURE YOU ASK IF THERE ARE ANY HOLDS ON YOUR APPLICATION OR IF IT IS CURRENTLY PROCESSING! Sometimes passports would get a hold for some reason and the applicant would never receive the letter in the mail....

So if they Fed Ex someone has to be home to receive it. They won't leave it at the door. This sucks, I know there are tons of worst things that could happen, but I totally wanted to go.

Im assuming you gave them the original marriage license. You can still apply at the passport office but you will need to get another copy of your marriage license with the state seal on it. They won't take a photocopy of it.

Yes! That's exactly what happened. They finally mailed it out overnight shipping (and I didn't expedite it, but they wanted to make sure I got it by my travel date) and I wasn't there to sign for it. I had to pick it up from FedEx. I got there at like 4:50 PM on a Friday!

No nothing. I obviously am not going. They basically need to mail it out tomorrow and that's unlikely. I won this trip so if I miss it I miss it. No rescheduling. Totally bum, but nothing I can do. I can't walk in/ they are too far into my application. There's nothing anyone can do.

Thanks, I will call tomorrow. I am shocked that in 2 months they didn't renew yours! The web site says 4-6 weeks to process so I thought I'd be ok! Your story is the first I've heard of this situation happening! There was no way for them to issue you an emergency passport ?

I have a habit of being in situations that doesn't seem to ever happen to other people. I am driving up to New hampshire  tomorrow to have them finish up my passport. This has been a disastor. It is ridiculous that they had so much time and it was a renewal not even a new application.

Whew thats a relief!! thanks for the update!! Hope you can make your trip!!! 
I just checked my bank account online and saw they cashed my $ 140 check for my passport TODAY.
Do you think I should still pay the $ 72 to expedite at this point?
I am so on the fence about this. I listed a July 1st as my expected Travel date on the Application, however my real date isn't until the week after.

You know I can't say. Maybe call them up and inquire what you should do. Explain the situation and tell them you don't want to go through with what I did. See what they tell you.
