Getting very frustrated
WWYD? My permit for my back room was approved in December. I have been waiting for the concrete to be poured. We were told the weather is not cooperating, that we are "next on the list" for a few weeks now.

Re: Getting very frustrated with contractor
Holy cow, who are you working with?
We are doing a similar job to what you are doing, I think, with Larsen. It took 6 weeks for our permits to come back but they started within a week of that. In 3 days, they tore up my patio and already laid the slab. They dropped off materials for framing today.
They have been nothing but professional in my dealings. We had a problem with the hot water heater because the plumber forgot to relight it after doing some work on Friday. We emailed our guy on Saturday night at 7:40pm, got an answer back by 8:30pm and had the plumber here at 9am on Sunday.

That is crazy! A contractor should not be treating you this way. I'm sure you are paying him enough. If you decide you need a new contractor, let me know. Ours was amazing!!

Re: Getting very frustrated with contractor
If you are using Sierra... I have spoken with the president (Greg) before.
The guy that runs that business is a major blowhard and I would never use him. Yes his prices are good, but his attitude is annoying as he feels his s**t doesn't stink.
I ended up using a smaller company for my dormer (more mom and pop) and am glad I did because his attention to detail was there. Plus he didn't nickel and dime.
Didn't you previously say he would have this job done in 6-8 weeks? I figured there would be no way that would be the case (especially with a foundation pour).

Ok. But that is the project he didn't start yet right?
That sucks. Did you give him money for a deposit? My contractor is very good if you want to use him. Easy to work with and doesn't B.S.
You will probably have to re-file the permit if you change contractors though. You may even have to change architects (I assume you used his architect)?

We didn't give them $$ aside from paying whatever the architect was (maybe $1500). But I signed a contract. I REALLY don't want to re file the permit. That would defeat the purpose of switching if it takes another 2-3 months to start.
Then you probably just have to deal with him then. As I said he feels he can do what he wants since he gets tons of business and can more or less pick the business he wants and choose the pace he wants to work at. I never liked his attitude from the start.
I think if you are willing to give people more money you would think they would do what it takes to make you happy and at least give you a price.
I have no patience for people who lolli-gag the quote/pricing process. If they are slow during the pre-sales phase... how fast do you think they will operate during. KWIM?

Re: Getting very frustrated with contractor
DH said he thinks you can switch without refiling. I would definitely threaten it.
