Poison Ivy
Help!! How do we get rid of it?? Do we need to call a 'pro' to get rid of it all?
We rent... out house was vacant for 2 years before we moved in. Everything was over-grown. There was poison ivy around this one tree in the left part of the back yard. We used Weed B Gone and some other weed killer, and it did kill it... for that year at least. It came back last year, but we killed it before it got too far. But this year, WOW...it's EVERYWHERE! Now on the side of our yard near our backdoor, under the deck in the middle of the yard, the same place it was for the past 2 years... just seems to be everywhere I go I see more! I feel like we only killed the stuff that was showing, but the roots are just spreading like crazy. Is there anything I can do? Thank goodness none of it is where my DS goes ... yet...but who knows where it'll come up next! THANKS!

We have it everywhere too and my husband is very allergic. Yesterday Poison Ivy Removal from Huntington gave us an estimate. The price was $2172 which includes an extra $750 for an extended 1 year warranty and sales tax. I was not here when they came so I don't know how they remove it but they are doing the perimeter of our 1 acre property.
If anyone else could recommend another company that would be great.

Dh bought something at lowes. Spray it on an it kills it. We had it all along the back fence last year. Hasnt come back.

I pulled it bare-handed three years ago when I didn't know what it was. Obviously, dumb@ss move and I paid dearly for it.
After that I started to spray it down with a mix of straight vinegar and dish soap. Then I'd cover it with leftover bricks I had from a walkway we had taken up.
This year, there's only one that I can see that came back so far. I bought big oven cleaning gloves and I'm going to (VERY carefully) pull it by hand, put it in a big garbage bag, and throw away the gloves too.
Then I'll spray with vinegar/dish soap. You're right about the roots - they spread underground and can cause a reaction just like the leaves do.
