I started already = they are fail proof! They do best in shade. I'd also plant them 6 or more inches apart - they spread and fill in quickly.
What colors did you get?

Yes! I put mine outside on May 1, and they are doing well. I don't think there is any danger of frost at this point.

There can be frost as late as May 15th, so keep an eye on the weather forecasts. Cover them with a sheet of frost is predicted or you could lose them. I've planted early several times only to lose everything. However, I have planted a ton of flowers already, so I too am an optimist this spring.
