NO, not at all! I had like 6 and that was plenty. Plus, really, they are super tiny blankets and I cant even tell you how quickly DS outgrew them and I couldnt even wrap it around him.

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
NO!!!!!!!!! Everyone told me I would use so many of them and truthfully, I could live with 2-3........ They were too small to swaddle DS and I just couldn't find another use for them other than that or as a blanket. Again, 2 or 3 would've done the trick!
Now that DS is older, I do use them as a drop cloth or HUGE bib to cover his lap or stroller when eating food. It's saved some clothes!
RETURN RETURN RETURN You can always buy more if you need them.

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
IMO, no way. I got at least that for my shower. Guess what...almost 6 years and three kids later (and born in September, May and October) I STILL have about two unopened packs of them!
I've used them as tummy-time "mats," to cover the infant carrier in the rain for a quick trip to the car or store, to cover them in a chilly restaurant or store and as a lightweight blanket in the crib.
I'd say five or seven would be more than enough...

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
The only blankets I really used were the Aden & Anais swaddler blankets I got (it was a pack of 4). We use them for EVERYTHING, from putting around DD's head when she was too small in the car seat, as a blanket, to put over the car seat to protect her from germs (I might be fooling myself there), as a blanket in the winter, etc.
I have a "tummy time" blanket that my friend's mother made for us that we use for tummy time (it's fabulous and soft but gives her some traction for spinning). I had a fleece one we used in the car in the winter that matches her bedding set. I use her quilt from her bedding set for tummy time when we're in her room.
But I barely used any receiving blankets I received. One of them I stuck in my smaller diaper bag to use on dirty surfaces when I change her, under the changing pad.
My friend's charity is taking donations of unused, clean receiving blankets for parents who have lost their babies late-term or still-born (she started the charity after her son died at 32 weeks in utero and they made her deliver him... five days of pure horror of an induction) if anyone has any they'd like to donate. Her charity is called "Ryan's Footprints" and you can find it on facebook or let me know by FM if you want to donate and need her info.

I only registered for 4 - the aden & anais ones which i got and dont plan on returning they are huge and soft and light weight, unfortunately i got about 10 more blankets which none had gift receipts so i have to keep them. i honestly might use some as burp clothes

so sad but that is a nice thing. I would love her info but question - do the blankets have to have tags on them?

Return about half of them. I liked the ones that had some stretch to them for swaddling.

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
We used the receiving blankets as extra sheets for the bassinet and for extra covers for the changing pad...I would say 8 tops just in case of accidents
yes and the soft ones are definitely great for swaddling!

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
i would keep at least half of them. they make GREAT burp clothes. DD was a huge spitter and she could soak one of those things in 2 seconds!! i had about a dozen and it was a good amount for my little spitter. i never used them to swaddle (DD hated being swaddled)

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
NO!!! I got so many at my shower as well and only used 4 - Aden and Anais swaddling muslin blankets.
The others I returned with the exception of handmade ones - which are in my closet unused still...DS will be 8 months in a few days.

My DS was born in June 2 years ago and I still haven't used them. The more practical ones are the big lightweight ones that are like gauze.

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
We got about the same for DS. I have most of them still. I used them for every thing. Spit up cloths, used them to line his crib, bassinet, bouncy seat, swing...At 18 months he uses them as his loveys...

Re: BTDT Moms: Do i need this many receiving blankets?
Honestly, I have not used a single one. I use the swaddle sacks. I throw one in my diaper bag just because, but haven't used it yet

I would keep about 10ish. You want to make sure you can get through about a week without having to do a load of laundry.
