When deciding on a contractor...
How do you make your decision when it comes to renovations? Do you go by previous clients work? Do you go with who makes you feel most comfortable even if they don't give you the lowest quote?

I was also impressed with some of the things the contractor I picked talked about. He itemized EVERYTHING in his quote, not just "$10,000 for shell", it was "$X for 250 2x4s, $X for 20 4x8 sheets of plywood, $X for 30 rolls of insulation", etc, etc. He also pointed out ideas that I never thought of.
By itemizing everything, his estimate was within under 1% of what it wound up being (other than my upgrades during the project)

Same here. At first I couldn't even get one to call me back, but then I found one who has done work on six houses within a half mile of our home. All the homeowners RAVED about him so we're hopeful it will work out well for us.
