Getting the grass to grow when you have a dog
How do you do it? I can't avoid letting the dog out. It's a very small yard. Is there a better seed that would work?

we limit our dog in the yard to where she can pee/poop and we've noticed that that area is so much more greener and taller than the rest of the lawn. she's a good fertilizer!

The problem isn't so much the pee/poop as much as it is him running. He tears the dirt up and the seed dosen't have a chance to sit.

We had to do one small area a few years ago, we just put up sticks and boxed it out then put two rows of strings so the dogs couldnt walk through it.

There's going to be a certain amount that you'll have to live with, especially if your dog runs the same pattern a lot. Ours do, and we just bought the right grass seed for the sunlight exposure, put it down in fall, covered it with fabric, and roped it off for a while.
We did that with three areas and in one of them, the dogs actually still avoid it because they remember.

I am about to block 1 area to reseed on the North side. I will be using a plastic fencing roll to block off the area and the landscapers too so it has a chance to grow back.
