Potty training/accidents in bed question

I am going to start potty training DD next week and the program that I am doing doesn't use pull ups. SO there is a chance that she will have accidents in her bed. At the store I saw the waterproof mattress pads. Is that all I need to protect the mattress? My MIL said I still need one of those plastic sheets, which I didn't want to use because its just too noisy and seems annoying.

Re: Potty training/accidents in bed question

Hi there. We just went through the potty training/no pull ups at night this week.

DD did great first 2 days & then has had accidents the next few days in bed. We had a mattress pad (w/ the vinyl bottom) & it has been fine. I actually had a towel on top of her sheet & one night this was fine...it didn't even make it to her sheet.

Yesterday I just bought a full vinyl mattress protector that fits over her mattress (zips) but it's noisy & will probably be hot (although she said she likes it?? Chat Icon ) but I would think the mattress pad is fine, as long as there is vinyl or something on the bottom part to avoid it going through. I put this right on top of my regular mattress protector (non waterproof) & then put the fitted sheet on top of that.
