skylight shades?

We have 2 big sky lights in our living room. We love them but it gets so hot with the sun beating down.

Does anyone have skylight shades? If so where did you get them, are they easy to open/close and do they help?

Thanks so much !

Re: skylight shades?

I dont have shades but we tinted the skylights and our front window and it works great. During the winter you couldnt sit at my kitchen table without the sun beating in on you and during the summer the skylight was so bright and hot you couldnt stand near the sun. They have different degrees of tint but you have to glass skylights. I forgot the price but could ask my DH if you wanted to compare.

Wow I never would have thought of that...it may be a better option. I have the same problems as you. I will look into it thanks!

We also have sklylights in our living room and kitchen. No matter how high we turned the CAC, the living room never cooled down. We got shades last summer from The Blind Spot (they are in Bellmore or Seaford). They were really nice. They came to the house, measured and gave you shades to choose from. They came back and installed them maybe two weeks later. After a few weeks, one was slipping a little and they came right out and fixed it. Sometimes they have coupons in the local flyers.
