anyone have tile countertops? do you like them?

I don't like them. Had them in the past.
1/ I don't like cooking/preping on an uneven surface.
2/ I don't like the grout and find it hard to keep clean. And even when clean it usually changes color very quickly and still looks dirty.
I would concider granite tiles and dark/black grout but very thin space between the tiles.

We saw a house with tile counter tops / back splash / island this past weekend and it was not attractive. It really looked its age and a lot of the grouting had turned blackish, especially around the sink I noticed, not sure if this is normal or maybe special circumstance. Just the thought of having to replace all that tile with some other material was enough for us to realize that house would require more $$ than we could afford.

I lived in an apartment that had them and I hated them. They are so hard to keep clean. Anything that spills instantly stains the grout. The grout chipped. It was discolored. The tiles were uneven. It was horrid. I would never ever get them and think they look awful. Looking at homes now, when I see kitchens with tile countertops I immediately think how much more I am going to have to spend on new counters.

I have them, that's what was here and we have been here since July. So far they are low maintenance and very easy to clean. I like them. One con would be having to clean the grout but I haven't had to do that too often. I love being able to put hot stuff out of the oven right onto it without a trivet or anything. We have tile counter tops. I like that I can put hot pans and pots on them. I HATE cleaning the grout, but since I am pretty on top of it I do not have a staining problem. (We have been here for about 18 months)

If I had to choose counter top, I would probably not choose tiles or at least not tiles that are so tiny.
