Jo, are you totally averse to CIO? I don't want to give any advice if you are It is so hard as they get older and understand more, and call call out for you

Liam didn't STTN until 18 months and he still wakes up and cries once or twice a night for a minute or two. We just don't go in anymore unless he is really hysterical. CIO eventually sort of worked for me.

I let him CIO every night, he falls asleep no problem, its the waking. I am kind of getting concerned that I should see someone, bc its always a screaming and pushing thing.

He wakes up at 1230, 3, and either 5 or 6. Its HORRIBLE! I let him cry, but sometimes he is SCREAMING and i go in there and give him his binky and leave. I have like 23984792374 million binkys in his crib, its the only time he ever uses one!

Kiera still wakes several times a night.
Sometimes she wont but most nights she will cry out. Teething, ear infection, just habit. Ive tried CIO, she gets hysterical and theres no way to get her down. I only have to go in and lay her down and she will usually go back down but its ridiculous!
Im exhausted too!!!!

We're there also at 10 months, and we can't do CIO because DD has breathing issues. So
We just sleep with her in the bed half the time when she wakes up.

Hold out hope. I had pretty much given up. Then at 15 months a switch went off and we have been STTN ever since.
CIO did NOT work. We literally tried everything under the sun. I guess they just have to do it on their own time sometimes

Oh, man, Jo, that sounds terrible I would definitely at least bing it up to your ped, it might be nothing, but it can't hurt!

Jo, it could be gas pains. especially if you've made the switch to whole milk.

luce still does not sleep through the night, but last night he slept for 7 hours before his first wake up!!!!!

is he like this every single night or just select nights?

DS had problems at night after we switched him to milk - he was on Similac Sensitive before that - and now he's on Lactaid and it's gotten better - he still wakes up but, not as long now.

he has nights where she sleeps through, not a peep. other nights, he wakes 2-3 times and cries out, wiggles around, tries to get comfy then grabs his lovey and falls back to sleep.

does he have a lovey? i know some of these seem obvious but sometimes obvious is overlooked...

is it too warm or too cool in the room
is it too dry? add a humidifier
could he be hungry? is he eating enough (or too much) at night before bed?
are his ears clear?
is he congested?
allergies?
asthma?

jack ALWAYS seems to wake at 1130-12 so I think its just something in his sleep cycle that he is working through.

mention it to the Ped but I bet he is just working out soothing on his own

My DD (15 months) goes through phases. She doesn't sleep through the night every night, and when she starts waking up, it can be a few days of waking, and then she goes back to STTN for a few days in a row.

Last night she woke up because she pooped. That makes it take longer because she wakes up more fully during the change and doesn't want to go back to sleep.

Usually it is very easy for me to get her back to bed. 2 minutes of holding and rocking and I can put her back down, and even if she is not asleep, she is ok. I think she just wakes up and gets scared and needs some reassurance.

That said, her cry usually isn't an hysterical one. She probably would fall back asleep on her own if I let her CIO. However, I don't really mind since it is quick and once she sees me, it's not a struggle. She would cry longer and louder if I didn't go to her, and that would keep me up even longer, and it would be less pleasant. (meaning, hearing the loud cry vs. just sitting with her and rocking her quietly for a few minutes.)

my 2yo (28 mths) sleeps through the night 99% of the time. She wakes up if she is sick, and then after she is better, it takes a week or so to get back to normal. She also sometimes has bed wetting accidents, but those have been less frequent recently.

I also wanted to say, it COULD be switching to milk, but he has NEVER STTN, but now it seems to be more times a night than before.

I would talk to the ped about the possible link.

I have been reading though that it is not uncommon at all for babies to continue waking up a few times a night. it seems to be uncommon on HERE but in the universe of babies, not so much.

has he ever been able to put himself back to sleep upon waking or does he always cry until you get therE?

I know how tired you are.

My DD is 14 months old and does not STTN either..You know whats great though is when she wakes up she will Gag herself until she vomits all over..So she always wins and there is no CIO for me cause I can't deal with cleaning the puke..I have tried socks on her hands but she pulls them off now..God help me!! I just want to sleep!!!

Dd is 19 months old and still wakes to sleep many tines throughout the night. The past 2 nights she has finally made it 4-5 hours without waking but was up for the day at 4am

Ds didn't start sleeping through the night in his own bed until a week after his 3rd birthday so I think my kids are the exception not the rule.
