Yes, I would. I made the commitment and would stick to it. You can sit down a lot - when you're not in pictures, during the reception, etc. Talk to the bride about wearing flat shoes or shoes with a small heel. Carry a bottle of water in your bag. If you do happen to go into labor during the wedding, I'm sure the bride will understand if you leave!

Re: At 38.5 weeks pregnant would you...w/poll
I delivered DD at 37 weeks, but was active, even at the gym every day up till that day. I guess if you deliver early then that is something you can't help.
This pregnancy with there is no way I would go at 38 weeks, but again, I will most likely deliver early and I'm carrying double.
Just let her know again that you will do the best you can. I'm sure she will understand!

Thanks everyone for sharing your opinions. I was beginning to think I was crazy or being a "bad mom" by staying in the wedding, but knowing that most of you would do the same is making me feel better! The bride is totally understanding and said I could where flats, etc....I will double check w/my doctor to make sure he says its ok, but if he gives me the go ahead, then I'll stick it out!

I would play it by ear. If I felt fine that morning I would get dressed and ready to go.
I would do the church (or ceremony) and then attempt as much as the reception as I could.
I am sure your friend will underdt if you really can't be there.
this is also what I would do.
see how you are feeling that day... and take it from there.
I'd still make an attempt.

I'll be 37 weeks & in my best friends wedding. I wouldn't miss it for the world though. (well, unless I'm giving birth of course)

Re: At 38.5 weeks pregnant would you...w/poll
I bowed out of a wedding at week 37 and it was the best decision I made, I even got sick and coldn't make it to the wedding at all...thank goodness I never spent all that money just to not even make it... There is too much emphasis on a pregnant woman at a wedding and I really didnt want to over do it for myself or take away from her day

Re: At 38.5 weeks pregnant would you...w/poll
I think since you already committed you should do it. I'm 38 weeks now and I'll be 38.5 this weekend and I could do it. I wouldn't be able to stand for hours on end, but I could walk down the aisle and stand for a few pictures. If you are in labor than obviously you call her the morning of and say you can't be there, but I'd plan on going unless something dramatic happens.

Re: At 38.5 weeks pregnant would you...w/poll
I think you could definitely go to the wedding and you COULD be a bridesmaid. However, with that said, I wouldn't want to. I am only 34 weeks and feel/look like a whale. I would not want to have to be wearing an uncomfortable satin dress that makes me look even bigger. JMO

Re: At 38.5 weeks pregnant would you...w/poll
My SIL is getting married in June (i'm due 4 weeks later) and I was suppose to be a bridesmaid, even have my bridesmaid dress purchased already. This all happened before I found out I was pregnant and I decided to back out of the wedding for many reasons and she completely understood and was able to ask a cousin to be in the bridal party instead. I really think it's your own opinion but because it was a summer wedding, i would be big and pregnant, plus swollen ankles, etc.. I just didn't want to be uncomfortable so I backed out. Plus my dress would never fit since I bought it pre pregnancy and it can only be opened up to 1 bigger size.
